nintendo arent the most profitable games company for nothing are they?

I disagree. I fail to see how Nintendo are more exploitative then any other games comapny.

but once you've done that, and understand the profit levels involved in the Wii hardware, as an example, plus high prices for games that are so basic and backward they would look at home on a psx?

And how does that differ from say PsPGo and some PlayStation titles?
And again with Xbox titles?
Most games that bear the Nintendo dev's stamp are hardily comparable to psn/ arcade titles. But thats a whole different argument.

they're a lot cheaper for starters, and I'd still argue that a lot of them are better than wii titles.
How about the insane cost of the controllers? Or the fact that you are paying more for a weaker console that can't even play DVD's, music (at least I'm pretty sure it can't) and has a seriously **** online system.
Does it even have a USB port?
I think I paid £75 for an imported SF2, months before it was released in the UK. It was worth every penny - I simply couldn't believe Street Fighter was in my house. On my TV. I had Street Fighter in my bedroom!
It sucks you can't easily transfer data from one wii to another, but some of the very best games released this gen are on the Wii and if you want to play them you have to suck it up!

It has a USB port but its hardly used for much.
You are failing to see my point here.
Did Nintendo advertise it as a DVD player? No
Did Nintendo advertise it as a power hungry HD gaming machine? No
The people that bought this console thinking it was either of those things above are the idiots not Nintendo.
The console is also a fair bit cheaper (or was at release) then a lot of the other consoles available at the time.
Dont get me wrong im not praising the wii for being the best current gen console. Because its far from it.
It is however no more of a "rip off" then either of the other available consoles when compared sensibly.
Well for starters they dont let you carry your DLC's across to a new system.

i know just because i say nintendo do doesnt mean that i dont think that anyone else does similar, for instance MS and their Bluetooth headsets? or propriety hdd's etc which are not easily interchangeable...
fact is, nintendo are the biggest rip offs...

Hey I have all three consoles, and I feel without doubt the most fleeced by Nintendo by a country mile and the most taken care of by Sony thanks to being able to switch my downloads over to newer machines swap out to inepxensive HD's and free online play and the best hardware value wise when you consider what you are getting. If that makes me a fanboy (at 38yrs old) then so be it. Whenever i buy a multi platform game its always for the Sony system for these reasons. Nintendo have grown very arrogant just like they did in the SNES days. Speak to them on the phone like i did for 1/2 hr last night and you'll soon agree. Customer satisfaction is not on their list of high priorities.. However milking us for every penny is.. After all it was in the 10 page license agreement that we all read upon starting our console for the 1st time??? Truth be told if that customer service rep was in arms reach they'd of been punched right in the mouth !
If anyone knows a way to dupe Nintendo to get around this issue, so i do not have to shell out again for all my DLC's please email me [email protected] I regret showing them honesty 1st time round by telling them the truth.. I bought it for another colour.

Hmm not sure on that one. Personally I think that Microsoft peripherals cost the most money, but the console is cheaper than the PS3 and if you go for an arcade it's entering Wii money. There's the subscription to Xbox Live, the plug and charge kits, the wireless network receiver and the propriety HDD's, all those things bump the price up. The PS3 has already got the wireless built in, as well as the ability to charge a controller while using it, the online is also free. That said though the PS3 costs more initially so it's just swings and roundabouts you could say.
At the end of the day (it gets dark) you have to purchase an addon for each of the consoles to enjoy them at their best. It shouldn't matter which one you have to buy more for because when you tot up the prices of buying the three consoles and the various peripherals they probably won't be very far away from each other.
You do know theres a red Wii coming out soon?!?
