What? Gladiator came out over 10 years ago?

I remember sticking a hairpin across two of the pins on the back of the C64 which, I think, was meant to improve it somehow. Make it faster, maybe? I forget that part :(

I also had a VIC-20, then a C64. The hairpin trick was used to perform a hot reset on the C64 without clearing the memory. This could be exploited in all sorts of devilish ways. You could start up a game, hot reset with hairpin (which took you to the startup screen), enter cheat codes for infinite lives, etc. (usually in the form of POKE values) and restart the game with a load command (typically SYS 4096). Good times! :D

Of course, these days we have the C64 laptop:

Anyone else feeling old?

I turned 37 in February; I'm married with a 13 month old daughter, and I don't feel old. Just experienced. :)

The reason time moves quicker as you get older, its relative to how long you have lived.

Summers when you were 10 seemed to last ages, but a year in your life at 10 is 10% of everything you have lived, when your 40, a years a 40th of what you have lived, hense the reason time appears to go quicker as you get older.

My eldest daughter is taking her exams at school now, i remember vividly being on study leave as she was, 22 years ago and it seems like yesterday.

I would just like to point out that this just keeps getting worse and worse as you get older.

At 33 one of my mates who I was best man for became a grandfather, now that is a kick in the teeth, my wife this year did the do you know what day it is thing, 25th anniversary of our first date.

I've only just turned 19 and I already feel really old. Most of the things I do now seem to bring back memories of my childhood, especially music. Listening to albums I used to hear my dad playing when I was around 10 hit hard. :(

LOTR is 9 years old. You have got to be joking, my little brother is like 8. I'm only 20 but this thread has proceeded to make me feel old. My brother keeps saying "it's the big 2-1 this year, before you know it you'll be dead". The way the years are flying by at the moment he may well be right.

Wow, I remember getting Gladiator when I purchased my first ever DVD player. I had to google and check the release date. Can't believe that not only Gladiator, but also DVD's have been out for over 10 years

Seems like only yesterday we put the trusty old VHS in the bin and hooked up the DVD player for the first time. I still remember my mams first words 'Wow, it's like watching a hologram, but in 3D!' lol.

I still, as obvious as it is, can't get over the fact that it has been 10 years since the turn of the millenium. The year 2000 does not feel like it was a decade ago.

Movies are always a funny one because they're easily remembered. I think this will happen less so now, but in the early noughts and a lot of the nineties people by and large still saw most of their blockbusters at the cinema. There was that special feel when going to the cinema and a massive tolerance to crap popcorn and queuing outside.

Can't believe that LOTR is 9 years old now. Spiderman 1 is a year older I think. The Matrix came out while I was doing my GCSE's ffs.

My first film at the cinema was Robin Hood Prince of Thieves - 1991!! Argh, around 19 years?!

Its 9 years this year since the Twin Towers went down

Yeah, that's one that always hits me. Same with the Tsunami that hit that your part of the world in 2005! Five years ago! Jesus, I remember being in Malta watching it come over the news.
