Mondeo ghia parts on zetec

Ive seen people on the net saying that....

If you have a Mondeo zetec you can get the indicator stalk (With info button) and clocks out of a ghia and fit them to a zetec.

And you will then have the ghia clocks computer, like MPG etc. instead of just temp.

How true is this? And would it be easy to do?

If it's possible im guessing it will be a cheap job to do via a scrap yard?
 
If this is true I am SO doing it with my LX.

Its always annoying because I can actually see MPG not lit up on the display when the sun is shining on it!
 
Well people SAY all the connections are there ready, just a case of plugging in the new clocks/stalks

Would really like to know if it's 100% true tho.

Ive been looking on the bay to see if any come up to have an idea for prices, but only found the indicator stalk so far :(

Ive managed to find the clocks for £35 and the stalk for £10

Not sure if it's worth just risking it, i could always wack um on the bay if it don't =\

Im sure a member here knows tho?
 
Lots of marques do it, Golf Mk4s cold be retrofit with cruise control for £100 iirc.

My 5 has all the wiring for a HRW from the factory and a light on the dash, even though a hardtop was a very expensive extra and the mk1 hoods were plastic.

Mk2 Mondeos had all the wiring for footwell lights on all models but ford chose to remove the bulbs in most cases.

Oh right, you replacing the clocks as well? I think that then gets the mileage from the car it was from which is annoying because you would then have to notify DVLA etc. which is way to much effort for me :p

When I looked there were certainly a few forums that said it could be done with clocks and stalk - give it a go, if it doesn't work and you wanted to sell it, I wouldn't have though you would lose much money.
 
Well apparently you can pay £50 to have the milage sorted.

Again this is just things ive seen flying around the web so not sure on the truth of it all :(
 
Going to leave buying them till tomorrow, just incase anyone can confirm they have done it or know if it will work or not

2nd page of that link, they say it cost 50-60 to get the miles sorted. I think it's worth it if the upgrade realy is that cheap

In total though its about £100 which really isn't worth it for me, I still really do want it though, maybe when I have some cash to burn I will do it.

If you do buy it, could you take some pictures as you do it so I can see how easy it is - I'll give you a whole pack of internet cookies :D
 
Haha yeah sure. I just ordered the stalk from the bay.

Need to find the dials from a petrol ghia now. Might pop into the scrappy near me on my way home see what i can find
 
A lot of Marques do this, the same with all Astras (or at least the ones with the 2.2) the have the connections for all different stuff there just needs plugged in.
