First buy in 8 years, advice if possible (omg he owns a corsa!)

You could buy the Corsa for £5k and sell it straightaway for more than £5k, giving you a bigger budget.

Alternatively, you could own the Corsa for a year or two years and still retain £4k-5k worth of equity judging by the current prices on AT.

and you dont want the person who gave you that lovely discount to lose their job

the discount scheme is not for providing employees a steady stream of cars they can sell onto car dealers to make a quick profit.

In that case he might as well keep the car for as long as he "has" to, and sell when he's allowed. I'd imagine the depreciation on the car wouldn't be that far different to the overall discount, so he'd have x years of effectively "free" motoring.

The downside is, of course, you have to drive a Corsa for that period, but then it's a massive step up from what he's currently got as well as being under warranty etc so he won't have to worry about bills of any kind.

So keep the car for a year and you will probably still make a profit on it.
