Could we make a poll please? I think the old poll is no longer relevant and we need a new one.

Poll:
- Minority Conservative Government
- Conservative / Liberal Democrat Government
- Labour / Liberal Democrat + nationals Government

I see 3 real outcomes of the current, quite interesting, situation that this country is currently in.

A minority conservative government, which may get voted down at the Queen's Speech, which will pretty much force another Election, as a vote down of the Queen's Speech is seen as a vote of no confidence in the government.

A coalition between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.

A coalition between Labour and the Liberal Democrats, which would also require the support of the Unionist and Nationalist parties of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

All in all, I think any coalition government will not in power for longer than 12 months. I also find it pretty dangerous, considering that the Liberals have some pretty shocking policies on the Economy and Defence etc.

I would prefer to see a minority Tory government, but with enough unofficial support from other parties for them to win the vote of the Queen's Speech.

Mal :)

12 months, I can't see any option lasting 3 months.
And if it wasn't so complicated, I can't even see one month working. But they wont call an election that soon.

Labour\Liberal Democrat will do for me.
Then back to the people in 8-14 months time and Labour are again back in power just like 1974(I think it was).

What do you mean "voted down" by the Queens speech?

Out of the three I'd go with the order you put them in. Personally I really don't want the latter, we voted Labour out for a reason. The only reason the conservatives didn't get a much larger vote seems to be due to people stuck in the past... :(

You must be joking, if there was a Lib/Lab government no one would vote for either ever again. They would be destroyed in the next election.

Con/Lib
Con minority
Rainbow

For me, though I find the current electoral reform being proposed highly amusing, albeit somewhat disappointing as it falls far short of proper PR.

The conservatves were the defending party in the original election in 1974, there was no overall majority, but a swing toward Labour, so if it went the same way when they go to the polls again then Conservatives would return with a narrow majority...as the roles are reversed this time around.

Should have a Tory/Borg option:

Anything to keep the torys out as they will just extend the gap between poor and rich as usual and severely mess up benefits for ppl.

Or create jobs, and wealth and thus remove the need for benefits. If there are jobs and vacancies, which there will be, then it makes logical sense to get people into work. If this means removing benefits, so be it. It'll be a kick up the bum for the tadgers that sit about on benefits when they could easily work!

Minority Conservative Government (with Lib Dem quietness). Although I would accept a Conservative / Liberal Democrat Government as long as massive concessions for the third place haven't been made.

And those that cant? No jobs in north east last time they were in power i doubt there would be if they got power this time.

The "Thatcher is the devil and ruined our lives" argument has been played out in every single political thread on here. I can't be done getting into it again.
All I will say is the Conservative party of today is not the Conservative party that was about under Thatcher. Indeed, Labour today isn't the Labour that was.
Parties evolve and accordingly people shouldn't be so blind and nostalgic in their thinking and remember the events of a generation ago to be proof that they'll happen again.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
