Asked about this at the local dealers and was told it was very very expensive and would require new pedals and some other bits.
Not believng this was true spent some time lookng around the net and came to the concluson that all i would need was a stalk and to enable cruise in the ECU and BSI-low and behold i was right:D £45 later and i have fully woring cruise control.
What is it that makes these dealerships think they can pull the wool over peoples eyes? I just don't get it, especially as i made it clear i knew what i was talking about when i asked the question.

You should have taken some pics of how to do it on here, might have been helpful.

But I had a similar story with an AUX port on my headunit, managed to fit something myself for £30 rather than £100+ for a new headunit.

It's the same on most modern cars now, just fit the cruise control switch, maybe a clutch pedal switch too, then activate it with a diagnostic machine. It's much easier to do now due to fly-by-wire throttle.

Retro-fitting cruise control on my car was a lot harder, making brackets for the extra throttle cable, wiring all the switches, buttons and speed signal in, much more time consuming that plugging something in.

Nice one shame your such a ***** that you won't even use cruise control because it will use an egg cup more fuel over 400 miles. A guy who would rather wind the windows down than put on the aircon even though he's paid for it and carrying the weight of the compressor round :p

£45 wasted on your car.

Cruise control makes a massive difference to my fuel consumption, I've been getting 20-60 miles a tank more since fitting it.

Most people say the opposite, it depends on how agressive it is and your journeys. Our journey uses a lot of hills so I'd say it's likely going to be more hungry on the fuel.

Since you told me about auto it has been on all the time:D any how, the money i saved on buying a camera should pay for a years use atleast-well until they suss out thier mistake;):D

Tested it on a couple of trips yesterday and trip mpg was up-guess i will need to try for a shift on the way to Luton to see how much difference the hills make. Interesting experiment if nothing else;)

I suspect it depends on if the driver is one of the annoying people that can't hold anything like constant speed which really doesn't help fuel consumption.
