I've had this HSF for a few months and I'm not getting the temps I expected. I'm using a i7 920 at stock and it runs at 38-40c at idle and upwards of 64c at load. This seems way too much for a £60 heatsink.

My case is a Lancool PC-K58 with all stock fans. I was thinking of buying some Noctua case fans to increase airflow. Also my GPU (nVidia 9800GT) is running at 70c idle (I've cleared the dust out). It's a 2 year card and I've recently been thinking of upgrading to either a 5770 or a 5850.

I've tried reseating it a few times. What else should I do? Help ;-;

Here are SSs of my temps.

Also, my computer is in sort of a strange position, kind of like this:

When I take my PC out I get idle temps of around 35,34,39,33 and load temps of 60,60,60,57. Still not very good.

I recently bought another Noctua NF-P12 case fan which made little to no difference in temps.

I would be inclined to try a(n) (extractor) fan on the roof of the case...(if you have not got one there yet)...

ie.,

case fans to increase airflow

Also, maybe reposition pc case to give more space around it.

I get the same? Mine is at 3.8Ghz though @ 1.264V

I think might reaches 72C max under full load, or it might be 80... I haven't load tested for a long time :p.

I'm guessing you're at stock clocks. If so, those temperatures look about right for the Noctua NH-U12P. It's a fairly dated cooler by today's standard unfortunately (hence being a discontinued product now) but I wouldn't worry about those temperatures. Low 60s aren't too bad assuming you got those temps under full load using LinX or Prime95.

That looks like my old Antec case. What do the temps drop to when you take the side off?

I got 10'c drops with the side off, it was just a poor case. Replaced it with a monster and now all is well.. :)
