The rationale behind the high asking price is:
a) a very optimistic seller!
b) if someone desperately needs that part then due to the difficulty in sourcing the cpu this would increase the price.

Think of it as an old crappy car. Sometimes a part for the car is worth more than the car itself. Hence why most people would just scrap the car.

I dont think he'll get anyone gullible enough to buy it though!

telling people that cus its a quad core it is as fast as a 10ghz cpu.... so annoying

I have gotten around 7 sellers suspended for false advertiseing so far... this guy is on the list to be reported 1000 times

I reported one yesterday for selling a 12GHZ PC. It's false advertising. It can't run at 12GHZ, maybe I could sell two cars that can do 100mph as a 200mph supercar.

Probably pirated software on it aswell. Terrible tbh. The buyer would probably think it's genuine.

There is a review of the i7 980x OEM on this site who reckons his 5.2Ghz Over clock is running at over 30Ghz effectively. I am surprised that one passed the checks when it was submitted. Mind you 5.2Ghz on a 980x is superb if its true.
