Hello guys, ok I know nobody is a doctor here and I just wanted some advice.

I sleep in the same room as my PC, ps3, tv etc and i am worried about the amount of heat + dust its generating that i cant see,.

Would it be better moving my bed into the spare room for health reasons? the pc is running almost 24/7 i also have one of those halogen heaters running from time to time so the air must be really dry and cant imagine its good for me to breath it all in when im sleeping.

advice?

Isn't the worry the negative effect of negative ions in the air that's generated around electrical hardware? As for humidifying the air leave your window open, nit wide, just ajar to get some air flow thru.

If you are worried about dust and stuff have a good clean of your room and perhaps do some internal PC maintenance once in a while?

Dusting/hoovering works wonders you know!

Maybe crack a window slightly as you sleep to allow fresh air in. Other than that, I don't think it's particularly BAD for you as such? I did it for many years and have had no problems.

Well the heat is only the same as the heat generated by your radiator, it's not some dangerous "computer heat". Secondly the dust shouldn't be a problem either as it's just moving airborne dust around that is already in your room, it doesn't generate dust.

The only problem you'll have is the fan noise.

I operate the rule that the only electronic device that stays in the room is the alarm clock.

Nothing else. I want a nice nights sleep and as little EM radiation as possible.

<outrageous>

The OP could buy an iMac. No real noise or heat!

Just turn off all your electrical junk when you go to sleep. That will stop the interference with your brain waves and give you a good night’s sleep. ;)

I have nothing electronic in my bedroom at all. No clocks, no radios, no computers. I want completely unaffected sleep, and the slightest whine from an electrical device drives me up the wall.

Man, what a time you're gonna have when you have kids. :D

Pc does not make dust, you do.

heat is not a problem.

Seriously why do you think this is a problem.
The only problem with so much tech in the room. Is bright Led lights and noise affecting your sleep and that doesn't affect everyone.

Could never have a PC in my bedroom, noise would drive me crazy. Always in a seperate, dedicated computer room where you can shut the door and the noise goes away.

My god, do people know that PS3s generate dust? Someone needs to get this out in the open, won't somebody think of the children!

Amusing comment of the day so far for me: electrical devices 'generate dust'.
