4850 struggling with bc2

id say cpu limited playing with everything on with a 4850 at 1680x1050 60 fps solid .

game aint that demanding on graphics but cpus a different ball park.

so if you could bag your self maybe a cheap q6600 and clock it that would be my first stop. this game loves the quads and can double fps in some instances from a dualcore.

I'd agree with Dg, my 4850 is running at max OC's that CCC will allow and plays BC2 on max settings with AA on x2 really well at 1680x1050.

must be a bottleneck elsewhere....

Guys I can't believe people keep saying the same WRONG thing over and over.

Yes, a quad will be beneficial but the GPU is still clearly the bottleneck here. From upgrading a GPU he would see FAR more of an increase in FPS than upgrading the CPU.

Quite clearly it's not cos mine works fine on max settings....

fine? :/

You mean like 30-40fps average at best with drops in the 20s or teens even?

anyway he has already purchased the q6600 so that's the end of that, and I certainly can't argue that it's not a good upgrade for the game.

no constant 60 fps :p 4850 hasnt been upgraded because of this

i have tested with few of my clan mates machines and dualcore to a quad is a big difference in bfbc2 even with same card . i dont care what biased benchies say sat there saw the fps on numerous machines.

my mates has a 260 gtx who i play with and a 8200 dualcoire at 3.0 i can get double his fps at same settings and mine is a 4850. this is at 1680x1050 . quadcores for this game.

also depends on how much he paid for the q6600 and framerate boost.

only good card i would go for is at least a 4890 otherwise pointless. then its a 5850 which is over 200 so if the q6600 was cheap hell get the desired all round better performance and fps boost for a lot less

I went from a 4850 512mb to a 5770 1GB and I noticed an improvement. The 1GB certianly helps at resolutions like 1680x1050 and games feel a LOT smoother. Wouldbe worth the upgrade imo.
