just walked into the kitchen my wife is applying something on the side of my 17 year old step sons face...

me: hes got spots?
her: no im trying a colour on him

im guessing its foundation i just walked out in disgust! (loads of girls his age fancy him anyway hes never had a problem with girls likeing him people often ask him for a hug in the street and its just embarrasing tbh , so i dont see why he needs to be a WOman)

over the last year shes had
him plucking his brow
shaving his body hair off
using moisturisers (okay i guess)
and now it looks like hes going to be wearing makeup.

surely this is not normal?

aparently he said he was going to shave down below the other day lol, all i could think was you do that son the itchings going to be a ***** :p

personally im of the opinion men are men.... keep yourself clean , use a nice aftershave or whatever, only pluck your eyebrows if its some crazy catterpillar , use moisturiser if you suffer from dry flakey skin but DO NOT WEAR MAKE UP OR SHAVE ALL YOUR BODY HAIR (trim your bush down below ofcourse if your expecting someone to go down there)

Wearing makeup is just... very dubious...

Shaving body hair is another matter, nothing wrong with keeping it trim/shaved especially if you have a toned body.

I agree 100%

I have a LOT of male grooming products, but what you said are the rules. The only time a man should wear make up is if he's going to step onto a stage or in front of the camera.

And he is 17 !!!! when i glanced at the thread i was expecting the child to be like 7, not 17 ! Why would be even agree??? Part of me suspect he is gay, but just doesn't know it yet.

Are you sure he's not gay? Very few straight guys get hugs in the street (coming from a straight guy who has more female than male friends)...

Maybe he's asking his mum to help him put stuff on, not the other way round. :p

Next you'll come home and he'll be wearing her dresses. ;)

Same, i have more friends in the skirt wearing category than shorts but I am not gay.

I have never met a straight guy wearing make up, actually, i've not known many gay men wearing makeup.

Test, take him into a youth filled club, like... ummm, I don't know where the kids hang out these days, and see if you can catch which sex he looks at first, then you can figure out what he likes.

Or, simply ask him what he likes?

Don't forget, all the girls love the gay guys so that could be the source to the hugging???

your wife might think this is normal because of a badly written article in a womans mag

well its NOT NORMAL and you need to make sure she knows that before she turns him into a gayer ! or since this is Newcastle and not london then before he gets beaten up for wearing makeup.

I know a couple, however I also know one that wears bum "fillets"

(like the chicken fillets women wear to make their boobs look bigger but for his bum...):p

Have you SEEN the number of foundation/moisturiser adverts aimed specifically at men now, with all the women in the advert too paying attention to the guy ;)

It's not difficult to understand. If you are good looking already, with reasonable skin, then adding light skin matching foundation is gonna make you look even better.

I have noticed a BIG difference in when I do wear a small amount of foundation and when I don't. Looking in the mirror when I have foundation on you couldn't TELL I was wearing foundation, but it makes my skin look healthier and perfect.

Girls want guys who have nice skin, styled hair, toned bodies nowadays - but then again this is from MY experience. It's not hard to understand why some guys who have all these have better relationships and sex lives than people who don't. Before you say, girls don't care about what people look like. Well, you're right - if they have low standards. You're unlikely to get a 10/10 aesthetic girl unless you look 9/10 yourself. Lets face it, guys at least WANT to do it with a good looking girl ;) Even if they can't have that standard (in general, because they aren't very good looking) their going to fantasise over women that look 10/10. Do you think men masturbate to images of 5/10 looking girls? I know I don't :P If I can raise my standards because I've raised my appearance, then I'm all for it!! It's also worth mentioning that, in my opinion - not any study -, girls have realised you can get BOTH a nice personality AND a good looking guy, so why settle for one or the other. There's millions of guys, thousands in your local area, so you're bound to find someone who's good looking, nice and caring and stable all in one package - no point in lowering your standards... just hold out. That's the unfortunate case nowadays, or maybe it was always like that.

Your son isn't weird, he's realistic and wants what ever man wants; he understands that in today's world, it matters what people think. Even if you don't like the fact that it matters what people think - because of the media, mainly - they do judge you. Like you said, he has no problem with women, but it's not homosexual to want to look better and grab people's attention. There's always someone we're trying to impress: everyone.

P.s. I went on a few tangents, but meh :P
