Do any of you work at the weekend (including bank holidays) for no pay increase?

What do you expect if you don't keep in contact. Actually phone up every 2-3 days and say you are still looking and if they have anything. Actually meeting agencies face to face, who are they going to give a job to. Someone who applies online, or someone who takes the time, to go in and talk about what the agency has and what they can do. Then phones every few days for updates. Also a lot of online agency will just use your name for book numbers.

Jobs 99% of the time, do not come to you. You have to search them out.

Hmm, I didn't word it great really. When I said "hear from one", what I meant was get a job out of it. I did keep in contact with them, admittedly not as often as that, but maybe once a week, and was told time after time "nothing suitable for you". Most of those were phone calls, occasionally popped down to see them, but still nothing!

Written into the contract that we work any 5 from 7 and salary paid anyway. But do get lieu days for bank holidays whether worked or not

It depends. I have to take trips abroad several times per year, and inevitably they will take over weekends. For example, this mayday weekend I was abroad, and missed my Saturday, Sunday and the bank holiday Monday. I don't get paid or get additional vacation days for this. Also, when workloads are heavy and deadlines are approaching, I will sometimes need to work weekends and/or work very long days (14hrs+).

All this being said, when workloads are light I can usually work short hours, leave early, or even just not show up. I wouldn't say that it quite evens out, but I take the bad with the good. At least the work is interesting for the most part (engineering research).

I can work any day of the year, excluding Christmas day. We don't get any extra pay for weekends, bank holidays etc.

I work every bank holiday for nothing extra, and have to work all the saturdays around xmas for normal pay...tis in my contract :(

Sometimes, but I prefer working that way sometimes, means I get more work done, this job I don't get overtime but still do it.

KaHn

Double time on bank holidays, No increase in pay if I have to work weekends although I have friday and saturday off at the moment. £20 just for turning up on bank holidays and £50 if was actually crazy enough to turn up for christmas day. I also get 33 days holiday a year. :D

I have done this year.

Basically I have my 20 days holiday I can book- having used a lot already to go to the states, I've been working a few odd saturdays/bank holidays in order to build up extra holiday for later in the year. Cant see a problem with that approach at all.

I sometimes work weekends and it's standard rate. Although I did work last Bank Holiday and got double pay. Which was nice for 10 hours work.

I have to work the odd Saturday in December/January to get the tax returns done. It sucks but better than being in the office till 11 every weeknight instead.

I'm also doing ICAS exams at the moment so my weekends are taken up studying for those. Different to actually having to work though.

Nope, they even stopped the days in lieu but hey - I'm living the dream, making games for a living. :)

(Actually sarcasm aside it's a pretty fun job, I love and look forward to going in to work)

Yes.

Firefighter.

We work whatever days our rota shift system works and says we are on duty including Xmas day and New Year etc. We don't get any "extra" perks such as overtime or time in lieu for working weekends, no.
