Hello everyone.
basically, the sink in my room here at uni is clogged up with years of neglect and hair and the like (all this rooms previous inhabitants have been female).
so, the sink finally decided it would refuse to drain at an acceptable rate today, so i resolved to try and clean out the trap myself (it's the easy-to-open bottle-trap style).

naturally, this has resulted in a torrent of black water (i'm not joking :() issuing forth from the trap, leaving behind what can only be described as satans dreadlocks clinging from the upper part of the trap.
i scraped off what i could (in between gagging at the stench and running outside for breath) but the drainage performance has not improved markedly.

so, i've resolved to nuke this ****er back to the stone-age, and would like to know what's the most powerful, dangerous, corrosive and organic-matter-destroying cleaning substance available.

it must be plastic-pipe-safe, and mustn't burst into flames during use - other than that, everything goes.
so, yeah, recommendations please - the stronger the better!

Caustic Soda will do the trick - probably have to go to a DIY shop like B&Q to get it, I don't think they sell it in supermarkets.

Caustic soda is usually a good bet. B&Q will have some.

sounds good, sounds good. are there any worthwhile alternatives that i could get from the supermarket? money is no object in this case!

it's a fair bit more convenient for me to get to the supermarket than to the nearest B&Q, although i'll make the effort if you think it's worth it.

the caustic will blast it better than anything more expensive really :p

also if you ever need to change your finger prints you can use it for that :p

Can you not pull it out by hand? Use a fork or something. Or something else. Maybe a hook.

Hmmm... i did what i could (and i used a fork, yes) but the majority of the blockage is at the top of the bottle-trap where i can't get at it.

also, the stench was/is so bad that i've puked twice.
i've poured about half a bottle of screenwash and half a small bottle of TCP down there just to keep the STENCH away.

excellent.

My Employer would not approve of that...

get a plunger, and wear old clothes, and prepare yourself that you will prob need a shower after

so gross, but oddly fun!
