Basically which one shall i get from these?
I'm leaning towards the blackberry after my friend claimed she got internet where she is, even though it has no 3G or anything?

Nokia E72 includes GPS and 3G with it, BUT. It isn't a blackberry, doesn't have as nicer display to it IMO and if the blackberry does still offer internet in most places and costs the same per month i might lean to that.

So yeah could anyway explain to me what the curve actually has to provide internet connections etc apart from wifi for when at home?

Also i'm thinking GPS with maps on the nokia could actually come in pretty helpfull

Thanks guys!

the E72 beats the curve 8520 hands down - the curve is a mid/low range phone and the E72 is top-of-the-line businessphone.

the ONLY thing the curve 8520 has over the E72 is Blackberry messenger and (if you work for a company that uses it), Blackberry PUSH email.

to answer your question, the Curve has EDGE which is slow as hell in comparison to the HSDPA on the E72.

<edit> the Screen on the E72 should be quite a bit better than the one in the curve too!

The E72 has Push email from email.nokia.com, handles upto 10 accounts, POP and IMAP and is free as well. :)

E72 and 8520 are not in the same class, E72 is a vastly superior beast when compared to the 8520 Curve.

+1

the E72 is much closer to the top-of-the-line Blackberry - the Bold 9700, and even then the build quality's better (although the 9700 has a better screen)

This.

Tbh if its between the E72 and 8520 then id probably go with the E72 as its a much better phone...also remember the 8520 doesnt have GPS in it...its a basic blackberry at best.

Your better off looking at the 8900 curve or 9700 Bold 2 in all honesty...the 8900 curve isnt 3G though so remember that whilst the 9700 is a 3G handset.

Being a new convert to Blackberry and owning the 8520, I am now quite certain that for the next few years I will not be going back to any other phone.

Yes, the BB doesn't have GPS but I have TomTom for that anyway.

After owning Nokias, SE and HTCs for the last god knows how long the BB is a breath of fresh air - the keyboard is spot on even though I worried that my fat fingers wouldn't play nice with it and its nice to have something to touch over a touchscreen.

As for the 8520 being a basic / entry level phone I will disagree - it isn't as big and beefy as the newer models, its more plastic than the others but the build quality is good enough and matches up to the Nokia type hones kicking about at the moment.

Anyway, thats my 2p worth just to give the BB a +1 in the thread ;)

i've used both the E72 and the 8520 - he hasn't. trust me, the E72's better in every way.

'he' has a name, and its malef!c to you.......and now I bow to your knowledge of phones and apologise for me uttering words that disagree with you.........

Have to agree with him though.

Bought my wife the 8520 sim free and as soon as we got it out the box I knew we'd made a mistake.

Its not that cheap to buy yet feels so cheap its unreal.

She tried it for 2 weeks & guess what we did...sold it on and bought an E72 for her. She hasn't looked back since.

Free Push mail (No BIS subscription required) & free sat nav are massive plus's in my opinion which the wife uses daily. Its built like a tank as well.

Sorry only thing id give the E72 over the 8520 is the build quality....the E72 is a much better built phone....but OS wise and screen res id pick the BB but not the 8520...8520 as i keep saying is an entry cheap level BB...the 9700 and 8900 are much better devices with the 9700 being the daddy of them all.

Thread revival!

Okay so i held back on getting a phone until i returned from Europe, i've decided on the E72, but then seen the E5, which would you advise to get?

thankyou!

the E5's an okay looking phone from the spec but i don't think it'll compete with the E72 in terms of build quality.
