Right i bought a PC-V300 a while back with the intention of using it just as a pc for the living room.. But i have now thought of something a little more mental...

I currently have my main rig with the following spec:

Gigabyte X55-UD6
i7 860
4gb
2x Radeon 5770
SSD
300Gb Velociraptor

CPU Watercooled in a Antec 1200

Now what is the likelyhood of buying a M-Atx board and fitting all that into the V300?

One of the main things are Will the XSPC Dual Rad/pump combo and optical drive fit back to back in the optical bay area? i can get right angled barbs for it but just depends if it will physically fit with enough room for the SATA power and SATA cable on the back of the optical drive and the barbs on the back of the res/pump?

I also know i will have to mod the bottom of the optical/floppy chassis to fit the 2x5770...

You should be able to fit all that into the V300, but you won't get the XSPC Pump/Res into the 5.25" bays as well as the optical drives. Click the link in my sig as I've done something very similar recently.

You won't be able to watercool the 5770s that easily (not unless you lose HDD space anyway), but it doesn't look like you are anyway.

Yeah looking at that V350 i recon its gonna be a goer... Hummmmm... The PSU i have is a Corsair HX so i am pretty sure i can shorten the ATX and the 12v CPU Cable then the modular cables for some nice short runs... Looking at that V350 as well i recon that there is actully enough room for the bayres/pump and an optical drive.. Will have to do some measuring though.. :)

Not gonna bother watercooling the GFX cards either.. Too much hassle and they are fast enough as they are... :) Wouldnt mind some nice quieter coolers though as mine are reference.. Any suggestions?

:D

haha, v1000 (roof modded with extra drilled holes) v350 (didnt like) v600, and soon a q08 :D (which should be a mini v to be honest)

I'd say for this project, plan plan and plan some more. If you want to cram it in a v300 your going to need detailed measurements and be mm perfect. the v350 allows for some freedom, but doesn't have the looks.

Random: Look into putting in a slot drive in the v300 middle section too :D

I can give you some V350 measurements if you like, but trust me, you won't be getting an optical drive and a dual-drive bay pump in there...

(Main problem is the outlets - they aren't below the 'half-way' mark, and as they stick out a long way limit the length rather a lot. If you happen to have a really short optical drive then no problems, but the OEM Dell drives I have are too long, especially when you stick the tubing in...)
