Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Guile was terrible in SF4.. he had no Ultra, a useless flash kick, and sonic booms with regular charge times. Lower than middle tier for sure.

I've not played with/against him much in SSF4, but i think having such short charge times AND such quick recovery on sonic booms is a bit ridiculous.

Because when he gets an opportunity he unleashes a flurry of 1 frame links.

Arth, his FK was fine, just some people stupidly used it where a cfp would be better and most scrubs (including me) could not do his 1 frame links. It's the same with rogs headbut as that trades all day long.
 
Can someone explain to me what a tech is please?

I've got a fair idea but I feel there is more to it than just trying to grab just after your opponent has tried to grab you.

@Kreeee - The two games I played against you last night felt better from my side although you perfected me twice so it looked worse. I think I was blocking your combo's a bit better but the trouble is I'm missing my uppercuts when trying to break out of the corner and keep going for the cr.LK when I'm too far away leaving me open to your next combo when I should at least be pushing you away.

Is the best way to counter DJ from that position to just wait until the end of the combo then do something like cr.LK, cr.LK, cr.LP, Heavy TU or should I just go straight for the TU?
 
Finally managed to beat Seth on medium in SSFIV. Gave up in SFIV but gf got me the new version with a fight pad. Always got thrashed in 2nd round against Seth - switched to using Abel from usual Ryu/Ken/Sagat.

Fight pad seems better for some moves though can't do any 720 moves. Though struggle with Abel coming out of focus attack into ultra or his fwd.mk dash s.hp combos.

No more ridiculous than Sagats tiger motion/recovery times I would say.

Tbh, I dont think its ridiculous that his charge time has been decreased.
In actuality, it was increased from SSF2turbo incarnations in SF4.
Originally in SF2 it was 2 seconds then it reduced to 1.5 in the later turbo nutter editions and then back to 2 in SF4.
So going back to 1.5 is not ridiculous imho, and projectile fights between shotos/sagat actually can last longer for a change if you precharge well with Guile.

I really like Guile in this, he's a lotta fun.

I uploaded this of me playing him, it's nothing special but I was bored and I was chuffed I actually went for the flash kick combo after cr.lp x2 > cr.mp, usually I go for the sonic boom just to be safe but I have that link pretty consistent now so will probably go for the kick more often.


I left inputs on to see what the Sagat was doing, quite funny. :D I got a lot of double inputs but I hit the buttons once only, them Sanwa buttons are crazy sensitive.

Swear his cr.mk is better in this game, too bad you can't cancel into specials off it.

what you expect guile to do?! he only got two moves, its neither sonic boom or the rather useless flash kick! guile is all about mastering the basics and unleash the 1 frame link fury in the corner.
