I bought a pair of EPOS M22i speakers from Superfi earlier this week for £650 reduced from £1175. Outstanding speakers and I'm generally very happy. Today however I notice they have been further reduced to £600. I'm slightly disponent as I asked the store manager at the time of purchase if he would consider a reduction to £600. He declined.

I emailed them today asking if they would honour the £600 offer, they politely declined. Now I don't want to appear ungrateful but are there any laws which cover these unfortunate situations? I think I could send the speakers back and buy them again at the cheaper price, but that would be inappropriate, right?

People today amaze me.

AFAIK you are at the mercy of the retailer. Some places have price promises, but if they have already declined then they probably don't have one.

under what circumstance could you give the speakers back? are they faulty? no. That's about all of your returning rights gone there.

e: unless you bought online, but you mention talking to store manager so doesn't sound like that is the case.

So you bought a pair of speakers that you are more than happy with, got a whopping discount on them and are now whinging that you didn't get an extra £50 off?

You ARE ungrateful.

I believe it is fair the store honour thier existing price, considering I bought these on Tuesday and asked the store manager if he would consider selling at £600. Can you see my point?

Yes. You are tight and ungrateful for your already generous discount. They said no at the time, have said no again and now you want to get legal on them? Get over it.

Because I believe people like the OP are the reason Britain is broken, always feeling sorry for themsleves and trying to get something for nothing.

I don't feel sorry for myself I just wanted to know if there was a law which was appicable in this situation. I guess I am being a little shrewd but it is an honest enquiry.

Honestly answer this: If you bought a TV from Dixons for £1500 and 3 days later it was reduced to £750 or your bought an oven for £500 and later that day it was £400 would you feel like you could enquire on this matter politely? This is the same IMO as the value of £50 is dependant on the buyer, my point is not the amount of money I missed out on but where I stand with the shop.

It's all about the amount you save, yes if there was a 50% discount I think everyone would return the item and then buy it again to save a hell of a lot of money. But all the effort for £50?

Some stores will help you if things like this happen, some won't, they're not obligated to do so.

You bought them as it was a good deal at the time, so you must have believed they were worth it at the time. The same goes for someone buying a TV at £1500 and finding out it was half price 1 day later, kick in the teeth yes, but they still thought it was a fair price at the time.

Legally you haven't got a leg to stand on, it's the same for people buying Apple iPads now, in a few months they might drop the price or increase the spec - do you honestly thing they should get free upgrades or money back ? Where does it end? 1 day, 1 week, 1 year, 10 years from purchase? You paid what you thought was a decent price (and it was!).
