Pretty much everything he's been involved in he has been at the top of the mechanism, he has never just been a presenter. I'm not sure whether it's the same on radio 2, but I heard the other day that when he was on radio 1 rather than the show being made up of bbc staff and "freelancers" with an element of selection from the presenter the whole shebang was organised by him. something along those lines anyway.

He worked everything to his angle climaxing in buying Virgin radio and then selling the whole of ginger media including virgin radio to SMG for £225 million

from what i can gather he is now just a presenter for Radio 2

but he does have lots of fingers in lots of pies with the money from the sale of SMG

he has his own range of pubs for example...
