Christian preacher arrested for saying gays were sinful has charges dropped

I'd be more narked off that I had been entered on the DNA database and fingerprints had been taken to be honest! He did nothing wrong!

It's hard to say really. According to that he was a man who "works in the energy industry" handing out propaganda in a shopping centre. I suppose we need to know what was in those leaflets. I agree it sounds ridiculous, but then; who do we arrest, and who do we ignore?.

Ridiculous - I'm not a great fan of preaching, religion, etc. but it wasn't like he was there to make trouble, he was arrested and put under duress for his beliefs, whether they had merit or not. This isn't what this country is about surely? the officers should be at the very least suspended from duty.

Suspended for what ?

It is more a case of a serious training issue than wrongdoings of the cops.

Also, How did the PCSO relay the info to the cops ? Did that affect the decision ?

Thats a good point, the PCSO atleast was very badly in the wrong - more than just a training issue - complete lack of any kind of common sense, abuse of position, etc. I guess the officers had to follow up on the information given them and follow due process tho surely there would have been a point fairly early on where they realised it was plainly stupid - let alone 7+ hours of trying to work it out.

Without seeing what was on the leaflets or exactly what was said I don't think any of us are in a position to comment.

This really, it's entirely possible that this was a massive overreaction by an overly powered state enforcing morality, but it's also possible that the leaflets were massively offensive and likely to come under incitement...

Doesnt really state how he reacted emotionally to talking to the community officer, anyone can express an opinion but if he/she over reacts to a situation in public then he/she is causes a disturbance to the public yes/no?
