ok so i need a suit for my daughters uni graduation (well i think i do ,is this the fathers dress code?) and thinking of buying used (im just not a suit person)
so whats a good make ,i havnt got a clue, or is there a good budget make ,ive seen names like paul smith dunhill ect on ebay but they dont mean a thing to me, what do you think?

I'd go down into town and start physically trying them on for size. You then also don't run the risk of getting a fake or worse, something that looks crap. There will be photos you're expected to be in you don't wanna let the side down by looking like a bum.

Marks & Spencer, Top Man, Burton all do reasonably priced suits. If you want something a bit nicer then there are shops like Zara etc.

I would say that if your at the formal graduation when the students are in their gowns then yes you should wear a suit.

I just bought a suit this morning, £200 for a Ted Baker new. Can get cheaper ones for about £100.

You can't beat M&S for low-mid range suits. Fantastic value for money. You will be able to pick something up for about £120 which will be perfect.

Lidl do a suit for £19.99 out of a box...I nearly threw up.. how badly fitting is that going to be!

You dont need to go in full on suit. Smart trousers, shirt and coat. I graduated back in July, It wasnt all suits :)

I was going to suggest Ted Baker, if it fitted budget, nice suits for a reasonable amount and also smarter image than your Marks and Sparks effort.

A good suit is worth spending money on assuming you are not going to change body size enough for it to no longer fit, and look after it.

If it's just smart dress though you are paying a premium for a suit jacket when you could get away with smart trousers, shirt and a smarter than casual smart-casual jacket.

I have a Greenwoods Elite suit that cost £95 in a sale bought in Liverpool. The staff were very helpful and to be honest the fit and look is better than the Hugo Boss suit that I bought a few years ago.

That's a great price for Ted Baker. Where from, if you don't mind me asking?

Anyone have a Paul Smith suit? I've bought some of their clothes in the past and I've always been dissapointed by the quality, especially considering how much I paid. Do they have the funky Paul Smith multi-colours in the lining? That's the main reason I'd be interested in that. I love that look.

To the OP: For a £100 definitely don't buy used. That's a healthy budget. Go to River Island, Burton, Zara, Next (maybe?),
