Im shipping a guitar all the way from sunny Newcastle to tricky Billericay in Essex. So whats the best courier to use, any reccomendations for me? I hear DPD are good.. I was giving this link http://www.interparcel.com/

Its supposed to be cheap and very good, and my friend has shipped many amps, with success. What do you think? :)

Bear in mind that Interparcel/Parcel2Go etc are not couriers. All they are doing is reselling you the service of a real courier (UPS/TNT/DHL/CityLink/FedEx) at a reduced rate.

Ive used Parcel Force to ship a few basses and they were good, colledcted and delivered on time and a fair price.

I used a company called paisley freight to deliver a set of wheels to someone. Like Lopez says, they're just freight forwarders - presumably they have very large accounts with a couple of courier firms, and pass the savings on to you to earn their money. I got a set of 17" alloys and tyres delivered up the country for £28. They apparently arrived in one piece. It was a CityLink van that turned up.

I think with couriering things there's a certain element of luck to it... your item will go through the hands of a fair few people - the pickup driver, several handlers at the depot, then one or two drivers on the way to destination. It only takes one ****wit to wreck your parcel.

Do not use parcel2go if you want it to arrive in one piece.
Why? They are merely an agent for the courier companies.

If you have lost something or it has been damaged, it's the individual courier that caused it, not Parcels2Go....

I don't think any courier will give you consistent service across the country to be honest. Where I live, CityLink, DHL and RM do a good job. However I always hear a lot of complaints from people about them in this forum.

I thank you all for that input. I will probably use Interparcel or parcel2go and hope to god it dosent get bust. Ive never used any courier to send before.. how does it work? do they come to my house to pickup my parcel? or do i have to go to the depot?

Actually now im thinking i might use Parcel force, as i have had good service in the past from them.

I sent one on friday with UPS, i'll let you now how I get on with it when they buyer recieves it on tues, fingers crossed.

Interparcel (they used UPS) was used for my pacifica 012. Came ok so no complaints, not much money i think i payed seller a tenner for delivery.

I send whole bikes using senditnow.com for £10.50. Its just Parcel Force cheap. works great for me. they charge a flat rate, there is a limit to size and weight but its huge

Recently i've used parcel monkey (initial city link) to ship 3 guitars all over the country, each of them worth in excess of £900, all arrived on time and in perfect condition.

I received a guitar (in Billericay too no less!) from UPS and it was well looked after, for a courier. Was in a gig bag and then box though. I don't think UPS are the cheapest but they seem to look after stuff pretty well. Avoid RM and CityLink in my experience if you want it to still be in one piece when it gets there.
