just back from learnie Red Rock had an awesome day out :D was going to go to fort william but decided a days riding was in order
not as much there as i'd expected and the only thing i didn't try was the black section, orange section was quite good fun and fast pulling quite a bit of air of the jumps.
couple of casualties one guy going over the bars after landing scraped knees etc but another m8 put his feet down on a landing and the chainring went right into his lower calf :( 8 stitches required
really enjoyed the fast down section on the 3rd blue run although not very technical

Guys, looking for a wee bit of advice.

My road bike has started making a "clicking" noise from the left hand crank or bottom bracket area. Sort of a rythmic.......click,click.......click......click,click..........click......etc, with each revolution of the pedal. Got really bad on this mornings commute.

However, if I ease of the pedals/power and gently pedal along it vanishes. It's sort of like as soon as I start putting any real power down through the left pedal or putting pressure/weight down through it by increasing effort it starts clicking. Ease off and it goes quiet. Oh - And it only seems to be coming from the left pedal/crank area. Right side doesn't do it.

It's a Pinarello FP1 with MOst cranks and a Tiagra groupset. Any ideas?. :(

Hard to describe what I mean but my pedals have always clicked and worn out bottom brackets tend to make a longer clicking sound.

It basically has to be the pedal or the bottom bracket I'd say.

Learnie is right on my doorstep (pretty much) but I've never been

Worth checking out then? How do the trails compare to the Highland Wildcat?

blue sections are not very techy but the callachy downhill blue section is quite fun, orange section has some pretty big berms and you can get up quite a lot of speed and pull some big air off the jumps. Didn't try the black section as i was with a beginner and he'd already had one off trying to keep up :p
its quite a short trail centre but fun if you try everything out :)
wildcat is next on my list :)

Most likely the bottom bracket, probably just needs torquing up, but could more terminal, how old is it?

Kindly bike wizened folks of OCUK, what hybrid tyres would you recommend for an MBT with 26" x 1.75" wheels?

I've recently dug my 1999 vintage Saracen Dirt Trax Pro out of the back of the garage after a long hiatus, since I dislocated my knee back in 2002 and will be looking to get back into cycling. The current Tioga nobbly tyres give a bit too much resistance on the road, which is what I'll mostly be doing while I try and get back into condition to go back offroad. After years of training in the gym to get back into condition to get back on my bike, it'll be quite the novelty to use one that actually moves when I pedal.

I was researching a similar thing when i decided to get back on the bike and change from knobbly tyres. The two tyres most recommended were the Continental Travel Contact and the Schwalbe Marathon Plus as they are both claimed to be better resisting punctures. I went for the Continentals (26X1.75) and i'm very happy with them.

Ordering the pedals tomorrow. Fancy some nice Blue or White grips to go with them. Any suggestions? Just after some XC, Trail level ones.

I'v only done the black once. From what i remember it's very difficult with lots of technical stuff. Not a lot of places where you can get your speed up. Also wasnt very well signed, i got a bit lost and think i missed out a section of it.
It's good fun but hard work.

Just remember that one of them is threaded the opposite way to normal! Can't remember which one like.....

Easiest way, is to always remember the threads go with the direction you are pedalling, so they don't unscrew when biking. :)

It's a late ( Sept ) 2008 model.

As already said bb or pedals, personally id take out and clean/grease your seatpost, also check your rear quick release is quite tight.

Both parts were a cause for my bike to do exactly the same thing, might not be that but it's worth a shot.

I got some Halfords Bikehut 1.5" slicks for £30 and I'm well chuffed with them. Been running them for almost a year, no signs of wear and they whizz along nicely on the road.

I just chuck my nobblies back on if I'm planning on going off-raod.

It's going to be awesome.

DiRT are putting up some decent coverage and updates.
Seems Hill and Fairclough had a good night on the Team Specialized Credit Card.
