LOL.

Good luck mate.

Test Passed!

94%

2 mark against for hesitation.
1 for observation.
1 for ancillary controls
1 for meeting traffic
1 lane positioning.

Thats not too bad.

Only LGV C vehicles, which is unlimited rigids, so no artics (I hate them).

Just sent off for my digital tacho forms and looking into ADR certificates for small tankers now.

Nicely done :)

Did you pass your "overtaking at 1mph more than the vehicle you are overtaking" part of the test? :D

Seriously though, happy for you matey :D

I had to travel 40 miles there and back on the A1 and past a major distribution hub for a week, It hasnt changed my opinion of other lorry drivers being inconsiderate ..............people.

Nice one! been wondering how you got on mate. :)

The best thing I can say is your training starts now and it won't stop until you hang up your keys for good or a Stobart driver gets you...... ;) :p :D:D:D

I'm guessing he means C cat vehicles with no weight restrictions....i.e I needed a C1 licence a few months back and after failing my first cat C test I went elsewhere for financial reasons and breezed my C1......so I can only drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes in weight (which I would have had on my licence anyway had I passed pre-97 :()

Probably is that tbh, I'm a bit surprised you went for the C1 rather than re-taking the Class C test, a C1 is merely a slightly smaller class C anyway.... ?

I passed My Class C in Jan'97 I had the option of going straight for the C+E but due to the law change taking effect just after my test, had I failed the C+E I would have had to re-take the Class C test so I opted to play safe and went for that.

Apart from a little more length & being slightly wider a Class C is imo the same to drive as a C1.

I'd take the Class C asap if you can, you'll find work limited with just a C1 licence I fear.

Thanks for the advice - basically I was in the final stages of the recruitment process for London amb service so solely needed a C1 to drive ambulances....in Norfolk there were not any companies that would teach C1 as realistically it appears that student paramedics are the only people who go for it. After establishing that the test was exactly the same as a cat C I figured that I might as well go for it as it might come in handy one day.

I had 4 days (shared - not recommended) with a local instructor and didn't feel ready to take my test just yet and failed....unfortunately for me the driving instructor than wound his business down and all the local companies wanted at least £500 for a couple of days plus the test as they didn't want to just take my word for it that I only wanted 1 more day as I was 'nearly test standard'.............I couldn't afford to fail it for a second time and as I have no intention of driving for a living I went with a company in Herts who teach using real ambulances and although it still cost about £400 I passed with just 2 minors and it was a breeze after driving the lorry.

Anyways....the kick in the teeth is that I fell at the last hurdle of the recruitment process because of a reference from a previous job in which I had a disciplinary (they get five years of refs!) and they pulled my job offer...........so now I have this category on my licence and no need to use it in the slightest. I might just start driving horseboxes so that I get my monies worth at least!
