go for your stars on the weapons, bronze, silver, gold, platinum

I notice that some weapons in the weapon & Gadget browser indicate how many kills I need to get a star and some mention nothing. Does this mean only a few can get stars or haven't I fulfilled some kinda of criteria?

i think its just a bit broken you will get stars for every weapon/gadget except the BF veteran rifle unless they fixed it now as well :)

i think it doesn't tell you how many kills you need until you have a bronze star (the first star) then it tells you how many until the next star.

Loving this so far. Online action is really intense. I just need to start getting a bit better at it now lol. Need to start staying in cover more instead of just running out and trying to take them all on. :D

not to rain on your parade too much, but sometimes that counter doesnt show up right... i had a round once where it said id got more kills with a gun then i had overall.
not to say you didnt get 17 just unless you counted that thing is not to be believed

I believe its all the kills with that weapon for the session that you have played on that server. Just had my screen tell me I had 134 M16 kills when I only had 41 last round.

Regardless, by the looks of all those tags very nicely done. I still whip out the pistol/repair tool/defib if I find a stab victim, sick to death of standing there swinging whats as good as a butter knife like a mad man only for my so called victim to turn round and stab me in the face.

Guys, I'm really considering buying this game, since I can't find out if I will like it any other way since there is no demo

I've found it for 15 quid.

How do you go about playing BFBC2? Like is it good hide in cover waiting for people to shoot and all that? Is it a game where patience is sometimes key? Do you need really fast rection time?

Might sound silly but I don't want to jump into it and get so massively owned that I'm literally not able to do anything, I at least want to have a chance.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Will.

I got this game yesterday :)

Had a quick go on the OcUK server last night.
I've never played any of the BF series so it's all new to me, normally play CS:S.
The game reminds me of COD4 but with vehicles :D

For the first few days you will get owned no matter what, it all comes with the learning process. You do need a fair bit of patience.

Thanks

Summed it up well. It's not a full on BF title as it stems from the console BFBC. As such you have that feeling of playing COD with vehicles. Not a bad thing (its not MW2!) quite fast paced, and until you have played for a while you will get die.... a lot.

depends how you and youre squad want to play. playing on your own in this game is pretty much a no go (unless youre clever enough to get around a whole team).
basic rule for me, two guns kill 1 gun etc. if your mates are with you, you will win a gun fight.
because theres so many different types of play you can if you want snipe from bushes or find a good posistion, but if youre playing rush (which is what i think the game is designed for) then its about working together and getting the points.

honsetly though you can play the game however you want, which is why for me, its just so damn good

I presume it is essential that you have a mic for this game then?

Squad is as in game team, not a clan right?

I've never really tried team work in games before, seems complicated!

For £15 at least try it, if you don't like it you can sell it and probably won't lose anything any money doing so.

Theres so many different ways you can play the game, you can sit back in the hills and snipe or use one of the other three classes and be all out attack.

When you're in a squad it's best to stick togeather and have at least one medic if not two :)

Fast reaction times help in every MP game the first one to sink the bullets generally wins.

At first you will probably want to snap the disc in half as you will die a lot but you will get better and as you rank up, learn the maps and get better kit you will start to love the game :)

So, I've finally unlocked all the weapons in the game (sniper last, yuck! I hate being a sniper!) So what now?

Suppose I better try the single player game.

How about playing the game for fun and not caring about your next unlock etc?

What did you do before games like this? In Counter Strike: "Oh I've been both Terrorist and Counter Terrorist, what now?"

You can for the most part find a random server and go Rambo around it if you just feel like running about not thinking too much about what your doing. For the most part, there are a lot of people that play this game that do the same thing, and some of them are not particularly skilled, I think I've only ever ran in to groups of well organised players a couple of dozen times at most, and even then, when it comes to the gun fighting they all squabble over the kill meaning they loose any organisation that they had.

Working in a group is better, if you can get a load of mates together on vent it can be a good craic, and it does improve your survivability.

Depends a lot on server, I tend to play late and on US servers.. and for the best part its mostly kids that can't play very well... the TFU hardcore servers and squad deathmatch server are on the other hand a little different.

The SAS beer drinker server has a good variety of skill playing on it most days.

Starting off is a bit rubbish, the better guns come with ranks and points. Start with recon if you fancy yourself as a bit of a good shot, hang at the back and pot shot people and mortar objectives. I found another good class to start with in the engineer, stay in cover as much as possible and take shots armour.

For £15 I'd say its worth a punt, thats what like 4 pints of lager?!?!
