Hi,

I bought a Dell 13z at the beginning of the year and absolutely love it. The only thing that i'd like to improve is the processor speed and was wondering if it could be overclocked - even just a bit?
The speed of my machine isn't terrible, far from it, but it can be a bit laggy and could do with catching up with the rest of the system - I got the upgraded graphics card and 4gb ram.
My windows user experience has my cpu in at just 4.1 with the next lowest being 4.8 for the ram the rest being high 5's. Anybody know how to improve this please?

Many thanks in advance for your input. :)

I've never found overclocking laptops a good idea. Your already streched cooling is going to be pushed even further and it could well cause damage to components inside your laptop, especially over time if you're going to be pushing the laptop hard for prolonged periods.

I've read that in a few other places too, however, I've also read people overclocking their laptops - would be good if i could squeeze another 10-15% out of it. :p

I would be too scared to do this as daz says you are running close to the cooling threshold with a laptop most of the time anyway.

I tried following that link shakenNstirred but its broken. Can you repost please? ta. Also, i know nothing about overclocking, having never done it before.

So if i undervolt the cpu then i need to then go about overclocking the cpu itself, right? So how do i go about doing that then?

It is a scary thought but i would really love a little extra umph!
