oc's i7 930 bundle 100c

Ok reverted it back, windows is loading again.

Is there anything else i can do?

Why would realtemp show no sensor movement? Also is 1.3v the norm for 4ghz ?

Thanks.

The last i7 920 I had did 4ghz rock solid with 1.264v vcore and 1.264v QPI/VTT, even with those voltages it got into the 80's under Prime95 with a Megahalem and 1700rpm fan.

I could be wrong but I think unless you can reduce the voltages or use a much more powerful fan you aren't going to get the temperature under control.

What was the load temps when you did a bios reset and the cpu was at 2.8ghz?

Can't remember doing a load test at default values. Will do that now and report back within 10 mins.

Ok, rebooted, both case sides off chassis\ safe bios defaults..
Prime running for 6 mins large fft's

Contact OCUK there's a customer support forum for these bundles, at the end of the day the supplied heatsink should be sufficient to keep it cool but I think at those voltages you'd struggle to find an air cooler up to the job.

You should check the batch number appently people ending with 35 batch number got the worst 930s ever made..

cpu batch code is : #3942A804

After changing my Bios settings slightly i've brought the temp down.. Linx, max x 20 = stable.

I would like to know what settings other people are using with the Noctua se2 fan to achieve 4ghz?

I called up overclockers and they recommended they I reseated, so i did again for the 5th time.. No luck.. So they recommended that i should use some prolima paste, which I received this morning, courtesy of Ocuk and have only just applied it. Not really making much difference at the 3.66ghz oc.. Couple of degrees less.

I took it into my own hands to try different oc settings based on what others have tried and found 3.66ghz to be stable.. I paid for a 4ghz bundle yet they may as well call it the boiling bundle considering..

I have taken these settings from another forum and altered them slightly to achieve better temps, but the unicore frequency is holding back my ram speed i think. Cpu-z reports ram at 664mhz .. How would i get the ram speed upto my defaults? .. which is based on Patriot Viper (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel.

Thanks in advance.

You have to multiply that by 2 to get your actual (effective) RAM speed. Try upping your memory multiplier by one notch, it would seem your running your RAM at around 1300MHz.

Here are some quick 4GHz settings.

CPU ratio: 20 (turbo off)
BCLK: 200
CPU Vcore: 1.30
DRAM voltage: 1.64
DRAM freqeuncy: 1600MHz (Dram multiplier 8.0)

Leave everything else at auto and adjust if required.

Also try running your fans via molex rather than 3 pin, so they run at full tilt all the time, Noctuas don't exactly push a lot of air.

I knew about the ram being half the speed, sorry if I didn't make myself clear. :p

Will try your settings now. Thanks.

Ok tried NathWraith's settings, left all others on auto and an average max is 91c (after 6min of Linx) Using Mamefx's advise of using a different multiplier. This is testing Linx. Room temp 18c..

Error 6 minutes into the test.

Also, my multiplyer was fluctuating from 21 to 20 even at full load.. Every couple of seconds.. 21, 20, 21, 20, 21, 20

Any ideas to help stability?

Thanks.

Just checked my memory speed.

I was going to use 20 x 200, as suggested, but when Mamefx talked about instability i changed it to 19x.. Which then changed my ram speed slightly.. My ram would have been 1600 at 20x.. But It was either a lot slower, or slightly higher.. Depending on the ram multiplyer.. I opted for the slightly higher setting.. 2:8 .. 840.0mhz (1680mhz in cpu-z) 8,8,8,20..Do you guys think my timings or is my ram affecting the overclock?

Also any recommended changed to bring temps down too? Thanks.

I would just see how you go on with daily use you prob can run 4Ghz and never go over 70C while playing anygame.

Just tried the Ocuk profile settings again.. Lol 1min into Linx, and 100c on all cores!

I've emailed Ocuk again.. Would you guys recommend i rma?

I would reseat the cpu,but if you are unsure about doing this yourself then just rma your hardware,it could be faulty.
