Just finishing my first year and yeah I agree just enjoy it, it means nothing, go to most(ish) lectures and stuff and get a grasp of what you have to do of course, but you only need 40% :) . Definately get involved in a sports team as well (even if you're not that good).

Enjoy.

It's one of the best things about university, for me... the sport's awesome and my teammates are brilliant. I'll probably play a bit of senior in the summer, to hone my mad skills.

I forgot to tell Hxc about Bristol's team... he can thank me later, too,

http://www.cudafootball.com/  (Apparently they're run really well, so get on board!)

Yes we are run well :D We got to the playoffs this year with a regular season ending 7 and 1. The coaching staff are awesome and next year we want to go even better!

I only ever wear my social shirt at social events.... funnily enough. No one from the Cuda wears their football gear outside of game time

I'm doing GCSEs at the moment. Want to study medicine :D

I'm not really sure where to apply, but at the moment, I'm really liking the look of King's college, Imperial, nottingham, and leicester. No hurry, I've got over a year to decide :)

I might be going to Salford Uni, dunno what the Business School there looks like. But I hear Salford is a **** hole.

It's all about Barts for Medicine :D
Aaaaaammmmaaaazziinnnnngggg!!! Go imperial if you want no social life, the other two ive no idea on but you can't beat being in London, and if you come to London, you have to go Barts!!

How much PBL is there at Barts? I was thinking Barts, but I wasn't entirely sure about going to east london :\

I'm off to study BSc (hons) Paramedic Science at the University of Hertfordshire with 1 year's paid work experience with the London Ambulance service, as well as unpaid placements with them in all the other years :)

Yeah, it seems that way. My original intention was to study Biomedical Science but after attending a presentation about Environmental Science I was converted. It seems like a good course and apparently Plymouth is the number one university in the UK and possibly Europe to study it.

ahhh somebody else Plymouth bound. I'm off back there to finish my third year of mathematics as i've been on placement this year. Nice place in comparison to where i live.

If anyone tells you that you just need to scrape 40% and you intend to do a placement year then ignore them, they're a fool. First year marks are a great selling point to getting an internship role.

You have PBL once a week in first year I think and then twice in 2nd. To be honest, the curriculum has changed a fair bit, so maybe check the prospectus. I'm going into 6th year in Sept so everything is different from when I started. PBL's are really good though. You have your lectures for the particular module and then the PBL's reinforce things as well as offer the chance of self directed learning where you can expand on certain things, and then the feedback sessions bring it all together.

I know what you mean about East London, it's not great....but campus is pretty close to central and you get to experience a lot more this side of town with regards to certain illnesses that are highly prevalent here and having to interact with patients from all different backgrounds.
Communication skills teaching at Barts is fantastic and you can really see with transfer students from the likes of Oxbridge that theyre not taught the same clinical and communication skills that we get - yes the theory teaching may be better, but on wards, Barts students definitely stand out. Plus, if you're interested in sports, societies and generally having a good time then Barts is renowned for having the best social side of all London uni's!

I am finishing off postgrad degree at University of Cambridge.

What can I say? Prepare to loose yourself in the library and say goodbye to friends and girlfriends. Perhaps workload varies from course to course and from degree to degree, but I found myself going through absolute hell in terms of how much stuff I had to do: numerous occasions of pulling all-nighters in the lab, pretty much forget the word "weekend" and sell your shiny new graphics cards as you will not be playing games :)

Would I encourage people to go to Cambridge in general? Hell, yea! You get amazing people around, get support from top academics and have access to pretty much any equipment imaginable.
Despite insane workload I wouldn't even blink if offered to do it again!

People always say that about imperial (especially from other London unis), but its just not true. The social life is what you make of it at all universities and Imperial is no different, all my medic friends at imperial had a fantastic time as did I as a non-medic.

Pick a university on academic merit and reputation, and out of the ones he's listed Imperial is head and shoulders above the rest.

Might be going back to Derby to do Motorsport Engineering, not sure yet tho?

Derby is pretty much the crappest University in the country - Check the times rankings if you like, it is 104th overall! Basically your dog will gain entry as long as it is paying.

If you are doing something mechanical engineering related, such as motorsport, then do it somewhere accredited by IMECHE and/or IET or simply don't waste your time.

Engineering is a fantastic subject with a huge range of jobs, but you will not get taken on anywhere as graduate with an engineering degree from Derby.

Come to bath uni and do the course I'm doing at castle combe :D

It's awesome. They have their own formula ford team and are building an LMP3 car to run on biofuel too. A LOT of experience can be had from it which is why I decided to do this course :)
