Focus ST Owners In Here!

There's a whole host of different aftermarket exhausts to chose from; Miltek, Magnex, Piper, Dreamscience, Mountune etc. etc. Be best to ask around the owners club forum for opinions from people who have each type or who have had more than one type.

Mines still standard at the minute, and I haven't decided to decat it or save up for a race cat, or which company to go with first.

oh I havent got an ST! So cant get into that part of the owners forum.

Just wondering, as seems the Mountune gives it a louder and deep growl with lots of pops. Wonder if anyone has tried to get a loud raspy race noise, would the race cat do that?

For arguments sake, I ran the car to nearly empty earlier (< 5 Litres), took the map off, filled up with Sainsbury's finest 95 RON **** and headed off for a drive.

So far I've completed around 18 miles over about three or four trips, mixed driving and I'm currently averaging 26.8MPG around local A and B roads. Without any spirited driving, I'm certain 30MPG would be easily achievable on the standard map with ****ty 95 RON fuel. Take it on a run, and I'm sure even more would be possible.

I'm with MikeHiow, mine is circa 29mpg and a tug it everywhere on NSL roads. I never understand how people get under 25mpg unless it's being tracked 24/7 as I have never ever seen under 25. Normally average 26/7 mpg to a tank of mixed driving, but when I go home to Dorset always in the 30's motorway/a roads all the way 130 miles.

& on exhausts, the ST has a sports cat anyhow so unless you remove entirely with a de-cat you are not going to see any noticeable gains :)

Thanks for the responses guys, think the <30MPG would be too expensive for the amount of miles I'd have to be doing which is a shame as they are awesome looking cars!

So, had it a few days now... (didn't go out in it today, didn't do loads of driving yesterday)

But, I am so far averaging 25mpg. Thats no motorway trips though, mainly round town and a 10-20 mile trip on dual carriage ways.

In the Cupra, my overall average was abot 27.5mpg (on the same trips/journeys), so this isn't too bad at all! Also, on a long boring trip to Leeds in the Cupra I managed 39mpg (was really pushing for that 40, lol!), so I can easily see the ST doing at LEAST 30.

Not due any long trips for a while though, but will report back when I do.

But once again...... that engine note! :D
