PC power light comes on, and NOTHING else!?!

Morning all,

This message is bahalf on a friend who's PC died during a Windows Vista SP1 update. The base unit now apparently does the following (so he tells me anyway):

- The power light comes on when the power switch is pressed.
- Nothing else happens at all - no fans, no display, nothing.

I am a little confused if his syptoms are all true. I would have assumed PSU... but then the power light wouldn't come on?!?

Any ideas? Motherboard?
 
You can't test the system with a different PSU? Or, have you got a PSU tester?

Just because some lights come on doesn't mean the PSU is 100% healthy!
 
We don't have a spare one between us unfortunately. If this is the case, I am assuming that it still must be either the PSU or Motherboard then.

Might just tell him to take it back to PCW!
