I started to use VillainROM 5.5 since sunday and is far the best 2.1 rom ive used so far.

Im at present using the orignal radio that came with the phone, not changed it as yet as it seems to be fine.
My phone is an unlocked orange so it slightly different to root than a standard orange phone, instructions are around the net and on that forum if you need help.
Well its for GSM hero rather than CDMA hero, these dont use a sim and are for the US market, so keep ONLY to GSM roms.

thanks, seems a little daunting. I've waiting 5 months for an update from HTC. Maybe a couple more won't hurt ? :/

its super fast, takes up much less space on the phone as it has no sense, and uses adwlauncher instead, i have roughly 15 apps installed, and ive only used up 81mg

the sprint hero is cdma so dont flash it, and the new leak will stop you from having root.

Thanks anyway good job i didnt have time to do it earlier. It came up as a link in an RSS feed.
i dont have root at the moment anyway. having issues so went back to the latest Orange ROM for now.

also check out villainrom.co.uk for the superhero rom, its so much better, it doesnt have any sense stuff though if you like that, but it takes up much less memory which is good for more apps

Not using the superhero yet (Ive yet to donate)
But i did upgrade to the latest Villain rom yesterday, and im gutted he put the sense bottom menu in
the old one looked much betterI just put superhero on last night, must say its so much smoother, and quicker than when i had villianrom 5.3.
They took out the HTC clocks, so im looking for an alternative now tho
