Having a torrid time trying to get Co Pilot 8 working
bought the software for my wifes HTC Desire phone about 2 weeks ago
the software downloaded fine and installed - BUT it would not activate at all with the codes supplied so after 3 hours of serious head scratching and trying everything known to man - I gave up -
emailed ALK support they replied the following day basically saying that I should deactivate the software then reactivate it ???

well seen as all I get is unsuccessful activation every time I dont see how How can deactivate it !!!
well to cut a long story short they now do not respond to any emails at all so I am stuck with software that cost me £26.99 and is useless and the company selling it wont answer my emails at all

the plot thickens  earlier this week I also purchased a HTC Desire (great phone) and thought I would try installing it on my new phone
you guessed the bloody software wont activate so 2 phones and it wont work at all - its now uninstalled from my wifes but I have emailed ALK 4 tiimes in the last 2 days and they just dont answer at all

so I obviously would like my money refunded as its not fit for purpourse, but after reading this forum it seems others are having the same problems as me

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=52d66e1598e0b36c&hl=en

I would strongly advise against buying this software till they get there act together

should I contact my credit card company - I have never had to do this before but why should I 'write off ' £27
any thoughts please guys

You get refunds through google market if you do it within 24 hrs. So should have got that once you realised it wasn't working.

I assume you used the google checkout number and made an online account? After you make the online account, you don't need to use the google checkout number and you simply skip it. Obviously you can only have it activated on one device at a time. (However, when I changed phones, I forgot to do this and it activated fine on my new one).

have you created a copilot live account yet? There might be an option in there to deactivate the software.

I had a torrid time installing it over a demo version on winmo. Software is good, install and support not good.

I agree that for the brief time it worked it worked OK on the 3 day trial period but support is non existant
as for a refund within 24 hours nowhere did it say that when I bought it plus the fact that the 2 emails that they did resppond to at first was 2 days after the event so I really dont see how a large company like this can operate a system where
customer buys product
product wont activate
customer emails company
2 days later customer gets an email repeating the install instructions that are already on the website (they dont work)
customer gets no response from all rest of emails
customer peeved but basically gives up and uninstalls software off wifes phone
new phone arrives
install software on new phone
trys to deactivate software that has told me umpteen times that its not activated
(to no avail)
4 more emails to Alk
no response
search internet for a solution all I find is many many people complaining about the same issues - bought the software and cant get it to work

so all in all not a company I will ever use again
now to get in touch with the credit card company

I'm in the same situation. Upgraded from a G1 to a Desire. Initially CoPilot worked but since last week it has been asking for the checkout number and reports it is invalid. I can't use it and have today contacted ALK via Google Checkout. Not impressed.

You don't actually need the checkout number. You can just log in with the copilot account, but you have to put up with the checkout prompting every time you start up. They could have designed that bit better.

It doesn't let me skip, just keeps asking for the checkout number with no other options.

Thats weird. I Installed it on my new phone last week and I was able to skip the checkout number part and simply log in. Didn't even deactivate it on my last phone.

But it kept prompting me to write in the checkout number and so dug it out eventually. However, it detected the correct license without the checkout number.

i upgraded from G1 to desire, all was working fine, but updated recently, stopped working, asking for google checkout order number, skip wont work.

so emailed to copilot support yesterday, they replied said they have reset and re-activated me, copilot is now working :)

I got a response this morning from them and it's ok now. I'm quite happy (and surprised!).
