Hi guys,

Looking for some ideas from people for a nice holiday in December. We were thinking of Thailand, but that's out of the window now!!

A few possibilities include Bali or Maldives, but looking for some ideas from people!

Looking for a nice warm sunny place, relaxing, not USA, fairly far away, somewhere that has resorts. A young couples holiday really!

Cheers!

Maldives.

Went there in July, best place in the world and will be going back as much as possible, really, really loved it. Don't go there if you like fairly active holidays and nightlife though, as it doesn't exist over there.

Who'd you travel with? Are you rich?!

Why looking for a thailand replacement? Am heading there in a few weeks, going to join in the protests!

(one bit of that was a joke)

What budget are you looking at mate? I've never been to the Maldives but lots of people highly recommend them. Depends on the island/hotel quality mind you. Cape Town was fantastic in January. There's nothing to suggest it would be any different in December. Sri Lanka is also good, very different. I was there in February. You could do a two centre too.

Looking at up to about £4k for the 2 of us. Yup, not into nightlife etc, looking relaxing, nice things to see, spa etc etc.

We've decided against Thailand not because we feel it is currently too dangerous, but feel that it is too much of a risk really. A bit of an unnecessary risk. Assuming things improve there, we can go next time!

Thats the problem. I was going to go to the Maldives but I think I would get bored as I like to sight see aswell as relax. Dont care about the night life but like some culture/sight seeing is a must.

I was on holiday a couple of weeks ago, and we met a couple who go to Cape Verde in the winter time. You may want to check that place out as its supposed to be really nice and relaxing.

Well there is some things to see, you can go on trips to the capital, uninhabited islands, various boat trips and of course there's the diving and snorkelling which is what most people go to the Maldives for.
