STEAM deal - AvP £12.49, Sega Complete £49.99

They could do with knocking a tenner off that Sega Complete pack I reckon, it's a 'good deal' but £50 is still a fair whack. The only titles there I fancy trying are FM2010, AvP, VT2009 and possibly Space Siege.

AVP multiplayer is good at least it is when there's other people online, Maybe this will boost the population!

is AVP any good though? im tempted but ive hardly seen a good word about it

Really enjoyed it myself (both single and multiplayer), and know a few other people who did. Saying that, I also know a few people who didn't. Not seen a game split my friends' opinion like this one in a long time.

If ever a game was marmite, it's AvP.

Is AvP first person or 3rd person? Steam's store page says 1st person, but I've heard it's 3rd?

first person only

the marine campaign is really enjoyable due to it actually being quite scary but the predator and alien campaigns are a lot shorter and quite lackluster

I would prefer 1st person so it's good if it is.

I want to like it but it seems to be almost universally hated

Is there any way of getting the old demo?

The demo is based on an early multiplayer client and its pretty dire to be fair. The multiplayer modes on the full game are better and the dedicated servers are slowly being rolled out for it but the only ranked games to raise levels and get unlocked character skins is via matchmaking, which is crap compared to MW2s. Some of the game modes are good fun though like infestation where you all start as marines on the same team, 1 person gets chosen to be an alien at random, then every marine that alien kills, turns into an alien when they respawn until its basically 1 marine vs 11 aliens or however many people are on it lol.

The marine single player is quite well made and has abit of finese on it. The alien and predator versions where clearly made after the marine one, and rushed, using the same areas as the marine baring a few deviations and then much shorter gameplay. Marine takes about 5-6 hours to complete on normal difficulty where as predator takes 3 hours tops and alien 2 hours lol

Since the retail versions can (must) be added to steam I think they need to knock more of the price of it. Can probably pick up for cheaper on retail since I picked mine up for 14 quid on release. Was well worth that low price though :)
