Asus rampage III Extreme

Still no news on when mine is being delivered, :( I was 5th in the pre-order queue beginning of last week, so i gotta get it soon, surelyyyyyyy

ROFL ah ok. do u think its worth replacing the tim on the chipset.
debating if i should do it or not.

Well I have done, but I can't say whether it is worth it or not as I no one else has commented on the temps without doing so. So until someone does I can't say. I have and I get temps on the NB of 54 idle and a max of 65 load, SB is always about 10C lower (doesn't sound worth it already).

EDIT: Come to think of it, I do have my boiling hot GTX 280 sitting about 1mm away from the NB lol might have something to do with it, will try moving it down to the 3rd PCI-E x16 slot and see if it makes a difference in temps.

I still havnt installed kapersky.

Is it just a 1 year license or something? If so thats pretty pointless as AVG free and MS Security essentials are more than enough for me.

Thats a proper enthusiast forum.

Yes but it has plenty of guides, reviews and firsthand experience of what is required it reach different overclocks. If it takes so many multis and BCLK to reach 5GHz it doesn't take a mathematician to work out what requires 4GHz anyhow ;).

Do about 3 hours+ of Prime and let me know what your NB/SB temps are :)

Tbh m8 if its stable for half hour thats all i really want.
because in real life i play games and nothing stresses all 8 threads in games.
i see ppl using silly volts just to get stable in prime. when i can use much less volts to be stable. as long as windows dont crash and games play great thats all i go 4 ;)

I would test more than 30 mins mate, 30 mins doesn't prove an awful lot, I would go for at least 2 hours if you want something stable in games etc.

on my rampage 2 i just sold i could run 4.3 ghz ht on @ 1.36 volts.
and i didnt have 1 blue screen or crash in 5 months. but if i run prime it would last 5 seconds. so to me just to get prime stable that i dont run 24/7 is pointless. if it does everything else i need and if that meens less volts i would prefer it. and cheaper to run and less heat. and i can run all 3d mark tests @ this speed and no crashes as well.

Fair enough, however don't expect the same results with the first BIOS, don't be supprised if you do get a few BSODs atm ;).
