Im at my wits end over this  Was wonderin if anyone else on here has this problem! I was really overweight at one time. I was 97kgs. Ive managed to lose 10kgs so Im down to 86kgs now. Still overweight (ideal weight for me is 70kgs) but not as bad as it used to be. However just a month ago I was managing to maintain it at 83kgs. Since then Ive noticed a problem:

No matter how enormous a meal I have - approximately 90 minutes later I'll be hungry. And not just hungry - RAVENOUS.

The other day I was at a mates place and had two helpings of filling Chinese takeout. I was stuffed. That was at 1900hrs. At 2000hrs I came home and played some games. By 2040 I was not just hungry I was ready for another full-on dinner.

Sometimes Im able to resist the hunger by drinking lots of water or going for a walk. But other times I admit I succumb and stuff myself...again :(

I dont understand the biology behind this. Ive just eaten a healthy-sized meal why the heck is hunger attacking shortly afterward. Im tired of wandering down the stairs at night looking for stuff to munch. I know I need more willpower and more rigourous exercise. I walk 40 mins every day but need something more knackering lol.

Anyways just wonderin if other have faced this problem and how did u sort it?!

:o

Are you eating very sugary/crap foods?

iirc they cause your blood sugar to peak quickly then crash making you feel hungry again.

Otherwise go see the doc it may be something more serious.

Chinese takeout is usually full of sugar and crap, does the same happen if you have a good meal like brown rice and some stir fried meat and veg? if so I'd say go and talk to your doc make sure nothing sinister is going on

I get this a hell of a lot. i concored it by eating slower. and i mean it took me about 10 mins to eat a roast, a BIG roast. and now i spend about 20 mins. on avarage, and it takes me about 3 hours to get hungry again, also do you do a lot of physical activity straight after a meal. like i know some people go for walks and shizz..

Eat slowly, and smaller amounts more often.

Quite often hunger is mistaken as thirst, are you drinking enough water?

I can highly recommend Paul McKennas "How to eat" series. Very good for learning to eat properly and controlling urges!

Hey guys thanks for the cool responses really appreciate the ideas.

What height are you? I'm 6ft 6 and 15 stone and would consider myself skinny.

I am 5'8", oddly enought my legs are skinny, my arms are skinny just a bit of ugly belly!

Hmmm good points, thanks for the book idea I will definetly check that out! I have three of his other books and they are very good I must say.

Unfortunatley...yes. I do have a weakness for sugary foods. I need to cut down on that.

Good plan! I will try that from now on. I admit Im a very fast eater. I can blitz a sandwich in two minutes while my friends are still halfway thru their first one. We need to enjoy our food more instead of hurling it down our necks!

Do you suffer with any anxiety disorder by any chance?

My wife of 5yrs recently left me so things have been tough. Hmmm...am I eating like this for comfort? Your question has got me thinking now....
