Hi

I know this is a new board but I was wondering if anyone had any info on it, information around the internet is scarce.

Here is the board, I am waiting for it to be released it should be appearing this week hopefully

Edit : http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3423

Basically I dont want to overclock I want to run a standard system but a decent one.

What I really want to know is if this board will support 6 core straight out of the box, i've noticed a lot of information that I have found state a different revision for this board, mostly Rev 2.0 which is strange

Also, I only want to run a single GPU probably a 5870, I imagine this board will run a single GPU as well as any of the top end 890 FX boards will run a single GPU, I am not bothered about Crossfire.

As I dont want to overclock am I limited to DDR3 1333 memory that will be the quickest plug and play memory? Or is there a way I can get quicker memory in there as i've noticed there is quicker memory available

Thanks for any help

Thanks for the info, when do you expect them?

I really, REALLY need help with the memory thing i'm so confused with it!

I know it will plug and play DDR3 1333 but that just doesnt seem as good as the DDR3 1600 but it doesnt mention 1600 in the spec but it does say 1866 (OC)

I assume the only memory choice I have is 1333 if I dont want to overclock so if I get 1333 with decent CAS will that be any good or should I be looking at trying to get it to work with 1600 however I really CBA to OC, so confused :(

Better link. If only they had placed a nice big heatsink the VRMs and right angled the SATA connectors...

Thanks

Why do you say that? I'm facing this off against the Asus version of the 870 but I dont think the Asus supports 6 core without a BIOS update and for some reason it has four pin AUX when the GB and all the others have 8 pin AUX

Can anyone help with the memory situation at all, surely people must know as its the same memory specs from 7 series chipset boards

Memory wise just get the cheapest 1600Mhz CAS9 stuff you can. Everything I've read suggests that faster or lower latency memory makes next to no difference in games. The amount of memory you have (4Gb is ideal) is more important than speed and timings.

I appreciate the info put thats where i'm confused, a resellers website states this....

DDR3 - 1066
DDR3 - 1333
DDR3 - 1866(OC)
DDR3 - 800

GB's website states....

Dual Channel DDR3 1866+

And you're saying 1600

Sorry but really confused and I really want to start ordering bits, i'm finding it vbery difficult to find the answer anywhere on the web, the question being, what is the quickest DDR3 memory I can plug and play with this board

I think its 1333 and I think I can use 1600 and it run at 1333 if its cheaper etc but just cant find confirmation

Howdy, Surely looking at the memory spec sheet will tell you what it wants ?

I would have thought 1600mhz is your best bet. I am building a system soon for a Amd 6 core for the crosshair IV board and it seems very limited on 2000mhz sets out there but loads of 1600mhz around, and corsair *if they ever do* have released this *CMG4GX3M2A1600C6*

Good luck mate

Also Found this to help with the naming of ram speeds atm
