Still hungry shortly after eating huge meal. Why!? Its annoying.

Sounds like you are dehydrated. Try drinking more water if you feel hungry.

Also, cut down meal sizes. It'll be hard for a week or so, but once your stomach shrinks you won't feel the need the shovel down the food.

I used to be a personal trainer in my past life, and I have learned through experience that you may still be hungry for a number of reasons.
The most likely reason, is that the quality or rather, the complexity of carbohydrates you are eating is poor. The more complex the carbohydrate, the longer it takes your body to break down. Complex carbohydrates are foods with low Glycaemic (spelling?) Indexes. If you eat fast food/processed rubbish, the GI index is very high, which means you're body breaks down and uses the energy very quickly, which will make you feel tired/lethargic/hungry. Before you go to a doctor, I would advise that you try to make your own meal. If you like curry, then make it yourself. Use vegetables, good quality meat, chicken breast or something, and try not to use much oil. Then purchase some BROWN rice - and none of that easy cook rubbish. This meal would be an extremely healthy and effective meal to stem off hunger as you have low GI carbohydrates, proteins and fibre.

It may also be, that if you lost your weight too quickly, you may have been dieting or something, it is hard to tell with the description. In this case, the body sort of goes into a survival mode where it tries to conserve as much energy as possible and ideally wants to get back to the weight you were before you lost it all. This is why diets so rarely work - you have to loose weight slowly and steadily otherwise you're body will just want to put it back on.

Another possible reason is that you're body is used to large meals. If you begin to consume smaller portion sizes, the body will begin to acclimatise and will begin to fill fuller after smaller portions - I would have thought that this, and the high GI point above, are the most likely causes for you're hunger.

Another possible cause, is that you are not eating properly throughout the day. It is essential to have breakfast and lunch prior to dinner. If you miss out on any of these meals, you're body will then begin to metabolise energy more slowly. Usually this would mean that you are not able to eat as much come dinner - but some people, I have found, can eat far more than they usually would and have a hunger that is very difficult to satisfy.

There could be other issues at work, so it may be worth seeing you're doctor. however, I would certainly try what I have suggested so far.

Eat healthy food
Eat decent portions
Eat consistently throughout the day.

I hope this helps. Sorry for the bad English.

Every time you get hungry after a meal go and do some HIIT. If you can stomach food after that then you are more of a man than I.

The bonus is you'll shed the rest of your weight.

maybe speak to a nutritionilist (or how ever you spell it)

its not gonna cost you a fortune, it may be you are missing something from your diet, it may be you are having a funny reaction to something it the food, it could be you should eat something different...

on somethign as important as your health you would be better advised to speak to a specilist..

Whoa you guys thanx loads for the responses really appreciated :)

Sorry if I'm patronising, but I'm exactly the same as you.

You arent being patronising, quite the oppposite, that is very good advice! I just have to get off my butt. Its just laziness that I get take out. I need to stop that. I made lentil soup the other day and boiled rice which was great. Nice and fresh!

dont eat such large portions.. you only stretch your stomach which results in you not feeling full. Eat regular medium sized dinners with small breakfast maybe some supper. After a while your stomach will shrink and it will take less food to make you feel full.

Thats a good idea! To start with I need to make less food. If I make a ton of it I feel like I have to have another helping which aint good at all. Also I need to discipline myself at house parties and such where I tend to get carried away and eat like a warthog.

Sugar = sugar high, energy, and sugar low = hunger and it happens quicker the worse the quality of sugar or carbs you eat.

Chinese is world reknowned for leaving you ridiculously hungry seconds later, not proper chinese but western sugar laden sources highly refined rice/noodles versions of chinese food with large portions of the carbs rather than small portions like they eat over there, of much better quality rice/noodles.

Eat less carbs, eat more protein and fat, protein and fat fill you up, don't cause blood sugar levels to drop(in your case the single biggest cause of hunger) and are far healthier for you.

@ drunkenmaster thats exactly my problem!! I never realized it was a "sigar rush" I just attributed it to a "sweet tooth". But yea when Im starvin its a huge PBJ sandwich or jam tarts or something. Ugh I feel awful just thinking about how I stuff my stupid mouth with all that gunk. Thanks for the advice, Im gonna lay off the Chinese I think.

I really urge you see your doctor about it just in case there's some kind of underlying condition people couldn't possibly diagnose under a forum.

@ Lightnix - cheers m8, yeh I will make an appointment, he wil proably tell me to get off my butt as well hee hee but yea I will book an appt and maybe have some tests done. Cholestrol levels and such.

@ xrs - nice one dude thats some neat advice there I shall totally take that stuff up. Oh yea I took your advice and got some brown rice last night :) Ive still gotta try it!I have started makin more of my own stuff at home rather than buying burgers all the time and although I admit I have cravings to run to KFC I am slowly resisting it. I made some boiled rice, some spicy potatoes (Indian style using online recipes!) and its far less oily and gunky than from the Indian takeout! I overdo the carbs. One of my weaknesses is bread. I blast thru an entire loaf by myself in two days. I love sandwiches of any kind. Recently I moved to brown bread and Im glad I managed to bin the pasty white bread. I dont see any changes yet but I hear its a bit better for you. Its a mission finding decent bread. I tend to stay away from E numbers in food but even BREAD has them lol , theres no escape. But I found store brand bread without it so thats good. Thank you for your advice!

I find that eaten small amounts regularly is a good pattern for eating, at first it's a hard pattern to get into but your body will adjust.

@ $loth thats a good point and a few people have told me that its worked for them so I gotta give it a shot. In the end it all comes down to willpower. I must have willpower.

You have all given some great support and advice but now I know this is my call. Well I cant let the burgers and fries do me in, it ends here.

This happens with stuff like chinese meals, pringles and so on.

Its the additives and perservative in the food we are eating.

In this particular example (chinese) mono sodium glutimate tricks the brain into thinking u are still hungry. Hence you still wanna eat even after a meal u know should have made u feel full.

Unfortunately with the way our system runs maximum sucess and image means you only win if you make money and more money. this means maximum profits at whatever cost. The cost is your health and the method is additives and perservatives and flavour enhancers.

The trick is to balance your blood sugar. One example : Rice cakes are very on the g.i. index around 80 ish, so combine them with something fatty or protein based. This way you lower the level of insulin your poor pancreas needs to secrete to keep your blood sugar stable.

The amount of stomach acid you produce can also affect your natural levels of hunger. Blood group O people make more acid (normally) than others.

Carbonated water will help to lower production of gastrin. Tea and coffee stimulate it for some folk.
