Will a 5970 fit a antec 902

I think you would need to mod the fan/HDD holder, because of the length of the 5970, my 5850 doesnt have a lot of spare room infront of it,, so if your gonna buy a 5970 I think you would be better of with a HAF, or a Antec 1200 for the extra room and cooling, also what PSU are you using?

Well a 5970 is one foot long (12 inches) so take how much room you have behind your current card and add the difference to see if it will fit :)

Yes it will fit in an Antec 902.... BUT there are 2 things you need to have....

1) The Hard drive cage in front of the card installation slot should not have a hard drive in it... i.e. should be an empty hard drive cage

2) Once you have installed the card in the PCI 16x slot you need to slide the empty hard drive cage in BUT it will NOT go all the way back flush with the other hard drive cage and case front it will stick out just a little bit about 1cm or so from the case...

this is not an issue as it will still filter dust.... this is the only way you can fit in an 5970 in an Antec 902 if you don’t like the look of the hard drive cage stick out a little from the front of the case you will then have to mod your hard drive cage with a Dremel.

Hope that helps you (I didn’t mind the look of the hard drive cage sticking out a little on mine)

It's the above that made me regret buying a 5970, luckily though, i'm building a new system for it and it's going in the Antec 1200. It just looked wrong having the HDD cage sticking out, it did my head in.

Is this the same for the 5870 or is that smaller than the 5970?

Sorry to hi jack but as the questions been answered and I have the same case I thought I might as well ask

Thanks

a cm 690 fits a 5970 without any adjustments and is a lot cheaper than the 1200 someone suggested

1200 doesn't need any adjustments, but the 902 does.

The CoolerMaster 690 is a big case and fits it better than the Antec 1200, i just don't like it's appearance and cooling compared to the 1200.
