Anyone Tried The Leaked Nvidia 256 Drivers

Its Nvidias/EVGA's new super card to fight the 6870 due later this year, last time around it was a 275gtx with a 250gts on the same card, this time its a 470gtx, with a 256 on the board aswell, the first and last proper Nvidia gpu's on one card before they call it a day :p
 
The 256 driver is supposedly built from the ground up, not just a rehash. It will work on all Nvidia cards, but supposedly gives the 4xx cards some gains. It also gets features working that should have been working from launch.

They are doing all tessellation on the GeForce 256 :D
 
Testing seems a bit... inconsistant... in that thread with benchmarks run with different settings even between drivers wtf.
 
197.45 runs as good as 191.07 or better performance wise for me on GTX260 SLI and without the bugs/performance issues from 195-196 drivers.
 
I tried them already mate, still for my system the 191.07 seem best, I just install the 197.45 and install 191.07 over the top to keep all the perks and profiles.
 
Hmm, actually minimal performance gains across the board, Dirt 2 if dx9, mean nothing and Stalker looks more like a fix in the first scene as opposed to sweeping across the board gains. But thats if those numbers are accurate.

But thats what most "big new drivers" do, large fixes in a couple games, small increases in most others, what you gonna do though reject them and say its not enough ;)

If you loved stalker, these might make a difference, if not, meh, something really weird about Stalker, I couldn't get into it, it just "felt" all wrong, ignoring the horrible interaction between characters and crappy combat, animation felt wrong, it felt, bad. Should give it another try though, maybe I was just drunk when I tried it.
 
nah stalker is pap... in every aspect it "looks good at a distance" but up close its ugly, not just visually, gameplay, missions, etc. are the same seems like a good thing til you actually get into it.
 
These new drivers still won't have 3D vision surround working,

Our new target for 3D Vision Surround is the end of June in a follow-on release of this 256 driver branch.

That will disappoint the hoards of people who already have 3 X 120HZ monitors ;)

The new 256 drivers look set to be released on the 24th May Source
 
Still haven't got around to trying 3D Vision with my projector :D should work as it accepts a 120Hz signal even tho it only outputs 60Hz.
