Holiday: New Zealand or South Africa

Went to NZ with friends for 4 weeks last summer! Amazing place would go back in a heartbeat ... 4 weeks and we only hit the tip of the iceberg really so much to do. Very friendly people truely an amazing place to visit. Im afraid i can't comment on SA tho.

Never been to either, would like to go to both but can only have one holiday this year. Was wondering if anyone that has been could recommend places to go and help me to decide where to go. thanks

I've been to both NZ and SA. They are both amazing destinations and you cannot go wrong with either.

If you are going to be travelling during the World Cup, I'd rather go to NZ personally. But, that said, as long as you stay away from Jo'berg and CT then you'll be OK. Perhaps go East along the coast towards Hermanus etc.

Hermanus is good for a day, 2 tops.

You cannot go to SA and avoid CT :p

Plenty of places like Stellenbosch, Knysna etc also but there is too much around CT. Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain etc.

I've been to both.

Only went to the north island in NZ and apparently the south is much better.
NZ is too similar to Ireland in terms of beauty and nice views.

Go to SA, much better imo. (stay out of Jo'Berg!)

Earlier i was almost certain about NZ but after some of the comments about SA i am back to square one! The majority still seem to advise NZ so i will see how much difference there will be cost wise. If i was going to SA it would definately be after the world cup, as everyone has pointed out the prices will rise over that period and im guessing some of the local criminals will be waiting for tourists to pick on. Thank you everyone for your comment though they have been very useful and it is much appreciated. :D
