Does using a local specialist effect warranty?
No, as long as they use proper parts and are VAT registered.

I bet they suck the old oil out from the top too. 15 mins tops
What are the 'other checks' that they carry out Fox?
eek
.I agree with Foxeek
.
People really need to stop getting so hung up on the parts that go into a service. Minor services are basically Oil and Filter changes in most cases, but What you're really paying for are the checks and to an extent, that stamp.

I don't think anyone is in doubt as to what a 'minor service' is but an 'oil service' is quite clearly an oil service; the clue is in the name![]()
If the wheels are about to fall off I'm sure they'll let you know but let's not pretend they spend an hour going over the car with a fine toothcomb when all the customer has paid for is an 'oil service'

I beg to differ. I have concluded you can't trust anyone. Bought a 55 plate Peugeot van last month, last serviced 5.000 miles ago (major svc), 6 months ago.
Opened the air box and the filter is so dirty I have never seen anything like it in my life. Leaves, fag ends, insects, sand all sorts of stuff. Looks like it might be the original 100.000 mile old one.

Unless the oil they use is as black as the stuff that comes out and they can magically put in exactly the same amount of new that was in there previously.
Wow, that is extortionate!
Can they really really charge this for 30 mins work?
Did you get the pollen filters done at the same time because on the earlier E60s they were a separate condition based service item but on the LCIs they got rid of that and tied the replacement into the oil change service.
