Hi, just wondering what you guys thought of CF 5850's?, Ive read some reviews and benchmarks, and they seem good, but I would like to hear what people who have used it thought?, another option is a 5870/5850 in CF, but its cheaper to just buy another 5850, also, does it realy matter if I go with another Sapphire card?, or could I use a XFX/Power Cooler/Etc..

Thanks

Edit: forgot to say, I will be buying either a 1000Watt Bequiet! PSU, or a 850Watt Corsair PSU

I'm using 5850 crossfire in my system and admittedly not done to much testing and not thought of changing to a single gpu.
So far games run fine at high res and the usual items enabled.

I have a Sapphire 5970 in my other system running @900/ 1200/1.149v.
As i wanted to add a 5850 later on.

I now Added the Asus 5850 DirectCU TOP. the boost i get is nice!!
If she knew, i'd be single lol :D yeeehhhhhhhh lol peace ;)

loving the 5850 xfire here too. if you're a clocker it's way better value than 5870 xfire.

yeah I am a clocker, but Ive accualy decided to go with a 5970, and then try my 5850 with it in tri-fire, just gotta decide if the XFX black edition is worth £40 more then the Sapphire version..

woot you have a 5970 and 5850 aswell?! WICKED we should make a club lol

Yeah :D

I have tried both the XFX black edition and Sapphire. there is no difference.
The 5970 is £499, cheaper. plus it was £485 the other day. it clocks more or less the same. mine is @ 900/ 1200 running fine :) save you're money and get the Sapphire, as i got both as i was undesided. then sent the xfx back as it was not worth the extra in my eyes. both great card thou.

At 1920x1200 I saw no real gains from corssfired 5850's, other than for bencharks. I sold my second (and 3rd:)) 5850's and am happy with just one card running 1000core/1300mem. The extra cards were just a waste of money and energy.

Yeah :D

Cool, well I guess a Sapphire will go well with my Sapphire 5850 :D

The Asus goes sweet with the 5970 and still plenty of airflow, nice rig.

Not any more lol... i had it running on it's side, and me daughter some how had a drill bit, and happends to drop it into the case  i didn't even notice till i come back from the kitchen to find this burning smell with a blank screen :( i guess you could have heard me from anywhere on the planet lol

The pc would not boot up again. put everything in my other pc, and was fine thank god. but the board is dead :( can't believe it. i'll make her pay for it when she is older. my missus says, you're own thought for being such a big kid lol women  need a women who has same interests ;)

Anyway. i have orderd another board. this time i went for the Asus P6X58D Premium, as i have build 2 systems for 2 people with this board, and thought they we're exellent overclockers.
But i noticed the 2 card are going to have less air, as they will be very close to eachother. would you think having the 5970 on the 2nd slot,
and 5850 on 1st slot, would be a better option ?

Cheers.

well, the 5970 should produce more heat, so I think it would be best to still have the 5970 first, other wise you might damage the 5850...

But at the same time, thats just theory, it might be the otherway round lol

that MB has 3 pcie x16 slots, use 1 and 3 :) (although 3rd slot can be hampered by psu if situated at the bottom, depending on case)
