Never used it, frankly don't see the point. If anyone's actually interested in what i'm doing or thinking every few hours of the day then i worry more for them than for myself :o

Can see the merits for someone on a production team posting a message about a product's development, but other than that..completely pointless imho.

This is such a weak argument against Twitter and exactly how not to use it.

Do you read blogs? People don't write blog posts about what they ate or when they pooped (unless that's of specific interest), they write them about opinions they find other people may be interested in reading. Twitter is very much the same, people write about topics that are of interest at the time. Twitter has a few important differences though, normal blogs are not as immediate for their audience and because of this immediacy you can talk about time dependant topics, the election was a good example. People talked about the results as they happened as commented about the commentary as well. People also use twitter as a news feed and the ability to share links with other people can be really useful.

I didn't "get" twitter until a few months ago, but once you understand it, it makes sense and is really useful.

Also, it's not one particular thing. It can be social, or news feeds or ways of communicating snippets of information.

If you slate it (like I used to) you either don't understand it, you are using it for the wrong purpose, or you have no need for it.

You can't say something is rubbish just becuase you don't have a need for it.

I use it a lot, although admitedly don't tweet myself that often. I find it amazing how it can generate so much negative feeling as well though, people who don't use it who really hate it, how can you hate something you don't use

Great tool to stay up to date with almost anything, and great to kill a few spare minutes every so often.

To constantly post on twitter is attention seeking.
To use for news sources is not knowing where else to get better news and relying on baseless rumours.

I understand and like blogs, but twitter is some cut down special needs social site.

why would i need to know peoples business and them know mine, its all for freaks if you ask me just like facebook and the other crap sites!

As the option I would go for is still not there, I am going to have to resort to 'pancake'.

;)

I use sporadically it but don't like it or hate it.

What are you doing on here then?

For the record, I use Twitter pretty reguarly and it's great. Not going to bother explaining why cause if you don't know what it's for by now, you never will.

I use twitter for live updates regarding the formula 1.

I have all the team bosses and machanics that post stuff during the race live.
Its a really good source of information imo.

It's little more than FB status updates. By excluding all the other bits that actually make FB useful (photo albums, videos, events), it makes it worthless to me.

Proper blogs are just about acceptable, micro-blogging is annoying at best. But then the attention span of society dwindles a bit more each day, so it's no unexpected.

Pancake.

I have an account - I've followed only a few companies for promotional updates but that's it. Pretty much the most useless website on the net at the moment - in my opinion :p

You who voted don't have don't want, clearly haven't discovered there's the adult entertainment industry on twitter, posting pics and videos. :)
