can ask some questions..

1. do you think is good value? prices really vary

2. What should i look out for when viewing/testing?

does anyone even own one of these? :D

Don't buy one without satnav, loads of them have it, also if thats the 1.8 petrol its gutless.

I've driven both the hatch and estate quite a few times (back in 2007) from Cheshire to Aberdeen, its an alright car, nothing amazing but ok.

im a big lad and need something roomy, i can go as high as 3k, but the cheaper the better as just saved up 15% for a house and the higher that figure stays the better,

so don't wanna be a cheap skate, but still hope to get something roomy for for 2k mark

OP: I am 6ft 3 and still have a k11 micra (student). I am also not exactly on the skinny side.
Dad has driven mine and he is 6ft 5 and a bit on the fat side

Saying that you need a car that big is a bit ott unless you are severely obese!

we had one for about 3 years a few years back before we swapped it for a xtype, was the 1.8se if i remember correctly. like firestar said an ok car it did all we asked of it but didnt really set the world alight. was relaible enough apart from a stuck rear caliper and the drivers window electric broke while on holiday so we had to jam it up :) that one is identical to the one i had, it wont have sat nav as only the sve and t spec had that as standard and personally id got for the hatchback version if poss, loads of room in them though as im 6ft2 and both front a rear room was miles better than the jag we replaced it with. the 2.0 has the SR20VE i think but i found our 1.8 fast enough for motorway driving tbh. main things to lookout for with them tend to be electrical so test all the stuff.

what about a mondeo? loads out there so should be cheap too?

Seems about right. Missus has got a SVE in silver. They have a roomy interior and it's the car we always take for long jouneys. Lot of electronic gizmo's too. The tacho's being in the center is my only gripe and be careful when looking at electrics as this car is based on the laguna. The missus had to replace a whole loom in the rear lights as water had got in and corroded everything.

Also if a hatch is not important try and get a saloon as the hatch looks foul.

Oooh yes, of primary concern when buying a 2 grand Nissan, that.

Well given that:

1) It came standard fit on lots of them

2) A car with nav won't be much more

3) Its a very easy to use system, quite a good nav unit

Then why not buy one with, the big screen in the dash with no nav just looks like the car us missing something.

Anymore input to the thread??

I think when buying a 2 grand car its more important to worry about whether its a nail or not, whether it has 4 half decent tyres and whether it actually works, rather than things like satnav.

well i purchased it, knocked him down from £2300, to £1900 :) offered him cash and went to walk away :D feel i got it for a good price, runs nicely and has lots of service, the lcd screen is crazy, could not work it, but checked all the electrics and so on, fast enough for me, although like peeps said not a quick car.

Found the seating position very good, as being 6'3 and with a history of back trouble that was the selling point as crazy as it sounds, oh well hopefully it should last me a year or so and then i can trade back up.

cheers for the input chaps
