More specifically "an approved device" has issued me with a parking ticket.

Are there ways around this?

I feel a bit robbed, as a warden did walk round and ask me to move round the corner, which I did. Then a damn machine sends me a fine

(Unfortunately it's not like my last ticket with a penalty charge of £0.00)

no way round council fines

They will send a debt collection agency after you if you dont pay, and they will ramp up the charge by £100s of pounds once they get involved

Just pay.

There is no way that i know about getting round this, private tickets on the other hand are easy to avoid. read the small print if its a private company, they usually say we may contact the dvla to access your information. basically if its a small fine it costs them more in admin to track you down than the cost of the fine. Councils rely on money from tickets so they do everything they can to get the money from you. you should have had a print out of a photo if it was using a camera if not ask for one and double check to see if you were illegally parked, if you were you cant really complain ;)

There's a photo of my car entering a car park and one leaving which could have been taken anywhere tbh.

I've just dug the letter out which incidently was in the 'to be shredded' pile :o and the company is called G24 Ltd. A quick good shows they use scare tactics to get the money out of you.

Said letter has now progressed to the 'been shredded' pile.

Cheers all :)

Yeah - bin it, I've had three now which I've never bothered paying.

theres a fish and chip shop near me, that used to be an old carpet warehouse and before that the village cinema.

It has a rather large carpark, right in the village highstreet. The highstreet has very little parking, so people park there to nip into the shops etc..

They have taken to putting up signs from some company warning me that by entering the carpark, i entering into a contract and they are a contract enforcing company

Read up on private company and contract law, in short, there is no way of enforcing the fine on the registered keeper of the vehicle with the DVLA, unless they have conclusive proof that the registered keeper was the driver who entered into that contract.

If you respond to the letter and acknowledge this, and try and dispute it, you'll have to pay as they have established the keeper and the person who entered the contract are one and the same.

If however you just bin the letter, without a massive full face photo of you in the car timestamped etc.. they have no proof and cant enforce the contract, And they never do :D

It's better than that, it's not a "fine", it's an invoice. The damages they can seek for breach of contract is the lost earnings. In a free carpark there are no earnings to lose .....
