Bought one of these mice recently but the mouse wheel is so loose in movement that even sharp forward and backward movements cause the damn thing to scroll up and down. Always liked the logitech stuff but cannot believe how free the mouse wheel is on this model surely a design fault. Anyway rant over look forward to the views of others with said mouse :).

Ive been using mine for a few days, the wheel is a bit more free moving compared to my g5, ive found that using less pressure on the wheel causes it to move better, with the g5 i had to press a little harder to get it to scroll. It does take a few days to get used to it though. All in all a very nice mouse, side buttons and dpi buttons are nicely laid out. My g5 rev 1 was fantastic but im liking the g500 even more even after just a few days use.

Can you not press a button above the the scroll wheel to change it to normal click scroll?

If not, you should be able to alter the senservity in setpoint.

Read the manual?

See the little button just below the scroll wheel? Click it and it should fix your 'problem' :)

Pressed it and still the same in fact noticed that button just after getting the mouse and pressing it does nothing at all so i can take it busted mouse then ?. Luckily bought one from somewhere else (had a voucher as a present) and one from OcUK that was going to be for my son so will take that out of it's packaging when i have sometime tomorrow and see if that is the same. Good to know that it isn't a constant thing button working taken into account so thanks for that guys and yes overall i like it a lot better then the gm3200 i used to have feels more confortable and esier to use with all the programable buttons :).

Just to update tried the one from OcUK and yes that button works and i now have click scroll also when i opened that one i found a little tin with the weights in that wasn't in the other one so now mouse is far better to use then old one :). Have sent the other one back asking for a brand new one to be sent out as clearly the one i had wasn't brand new as no weights were in the package.

I find the mouse just the right weight, I mean whats the advantage of making it heavier? Never understood this weights in mouse lark! :)

rma it to logitech and get a new one free to use as backup or sell to offset the cost of the one you had to buy

Too late i already sent it back to the etailor i got it from although given the hassle i have had with them i will never be using them again. Basically accused me of doing something to the mouse and insisted i must have taken the pack of weights. I mean WTF!!!! why would i take the weights out and keep them, you can only put so many in at a time and i am pretty sure they arn't worth anything just seemed stupid to me and lousy customer service.

As i said only used them as relative got me a voucher otherwise i wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole.

I RMA'd my G500 and exchanged it for a G9, had a hypersensitive scroll button, push down middle button and it would always trigger either left or right scroll.

I own one of the first G5s and it's been nothing short of a fantastic mouse over the years, the best one I've had ever in fact. Also, I quite fancy the fact that I can 'feel' the wheel well, with each increment being a conscious motion. Makes for incredible control.

Them sensitive scroll-wheels you guys talk about do sound quite annoying. Then again, I'm sure its all about getting used to it.

I have one right here too, but the feet need replacing and logitech said it was out of warranty.
