I have had a Hyosung GT125 Comet for the past 10 months and been using it on a regular basis, to and from work, for the past three months. I chose this bike because I'm 6' 2" and need something a bit bigger than the average 125.

I got my full bike licence on Tuesday though so now I'm thinking bigger. I'm not bothered about sports bikes at all and I want something easy to handle for a first proper bike but also with a comfortable riding position.

I have a couple of grand coming my way in a few months so I could wait for that or I could just see what I get for my bike now and use that money to upgrade.

Any and all advice more than welcome - cheers!

I am also over 6'. I have just had a look at the Comet, it looks great for a tall learner.
How have you got on with it?

Absolutely great - feels like a big bike and riding it made the DAS a lot easier. Had three lessons and then straight through mod1 & mod 2 no problem. I will be selling it if interested - suppose that depends on where in the country you are though?

Have only just realised there's a Bikers Cafe forum at the top of the page - can a don move this thread if poss please?

The versys is a great choice, if that takes your fancy also have a look at the Suzuki V-strom 650. Same style of bike, different manufacturer.

Hmmm, I was looking at a Versys and I do really like them. Sat on one recently at my local bike dealer and it felt really nice.

It's definitely moved onto my short-list ;)

There is now a bikes forum though - look up :)

I got the ER-6f - similar to the Versys, probably more low down power and less up top. Very easy to ride and very comfortable too.

I say and SV650. cheap enough to have fun on without getting all gooey and mad if you scratch it lol.

or a Hornet.

avoid faired bikes as if you drop it, it is often enough to write it off on the panel damage alone. i seem to remember MCN or somebody pricing up buying GSXR600 spares and building the same bike but out of dealer spares. £25k. ;)

Hah, I may not have been gooey but I was sure mad! :p

And yeah, dealer receipt for putting it back together after low speed off (pretty much all plastic and peg damage) was 2k.

Your last para is scary, but then I'm intending to keep it the right way up next time hehe

I'm 6' 3" and sold my Hornet 900 because I found it too cramped and uncomfortable on longer journeys. Absolutely loved it otherwise.
