Ok so i was pretty set on getting a Blackberry but i have been reading a lot of good things about the HTC's and Android phones and i was just wondering if i should lean to getting one of them.
Basically i need as much internet usage and texts for £20 a month....So what phones/plans/providers do you guys recommend?

Erm kinda looking for a contract with free phone tbh
and Abooie that a good phone? what other things you get (how many mins etc)

Good phone for sure but its totally different to a BB.

BB's are all about communication & battery life, not multimedia and web surfing (which of course they can do).

If you would call yourself a heavy user (txt's, calls & emails) then deffo a BB is what you want.

If web browsing, music & video are the primary use then maybe look elsewhere. Although the Desire's music player is god awful tbh :D

T-mobile do 300 min, unlimited text and unlimited internet (3gb fair use) for £15 a month with a free samsung galaxy portal.

Or if you take up your whole budget, £20 gets you a htc hero (G2) 600 mins unlimited texts and web (3gb fair use again).

:)

Thanks Slinky. The Samsung/HTC Hero a good phone? They look like a good deal and T-Mobile are fairly decent arent they? Which is best i dont mind spending £20 so whats better Samsung or Hero?
and thanks Mancubus i dont do a lot of emailing nor calling as i just do texts and i was leaning towards a blackberry for the blackberry messenger but if i got one of the plans that Slinky said then i get unlimited anyways so that covers that.......

HTC hero is a very good handset, is getting a little old now but is still very competative against the competition especially at £20; just have a look at the official thread on here as a testament.

The galaxy portal is a pretty good handset, not as good a camera and has a slightly older version of android on it (1.5 instead of 1.6) but it has a bigger screen and is getting the 2.1 update soon like the hero will be.

If I were you, I'd suggest popping into a store and having a go on the phones as that's the only real way you'll be able to decide what to go for. I can tell you how great a phone is on here all you like but you may not get on with it when you use it.

Great deals on them, but seriously give them a go before trying to decide, same with the blackberry's too :)

The Desire seems to the flavour of the month atm; with great reviews all round.

The deal was with Orange. Phone was £9.99 (was £50 but was £40 off yesterday), 24 months, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500MB internet. I was happy to stick with Orange as we'll benefit from the merger with T Mobile soon (shared network in a few months).

I probably could have done slightly better if I'd called and haggled but I was happy enough

Oh ok...the Desire is out of my budget i think
So is the T-Mobile G2 a HTC Hero? If so is it any different because it's not called HTC Hero
Thanks

The samsung galaxy I5700 comes preloaded with 2.1 and we are currently waiting to here if it will get 2.2 (it probably won't though cause the mobile apparently is quite old even though it was only launched this year).

I got mine around April the 20th with 2.1 on it already. Deal is on 3, 200 minutes, unlimited internet ( fair usage is 1Gb but they have changed that to 500Mb for all new contracts now) and unlimited texts for 20 pounds a month, phone was free and it's a 24 month contract.

Touch 2 is windows mobile which takes a bit of tweaking to get the best out of. If you're new to smart phones I wouldn't touch it as I found it to be a lot slower than the competition and it's also being replaced by the HD mini.

Stick to android phones and you can't go wrong really :)

Well the HTC wildfire is coming in in a few weeks (essentially it's a mini desire), either that or there's the LG intouch max (gw620) which has a slide out keyboard if that's your thing.

Otherwise the only other phones I'd consider would be a blackberry 8520 or a HTC HD mini. However after having tried both the blackberry and the HD2 (the mini's big brother), I do prefer using android than anything else.

But like I said, these are just opinions so go and try them out and see what you think :)

Ok cheers mate, The Lg looks quite nice....Yeh i like the HD Mini but you can get it on a £15 contract without paying for the phone :( and as for the blackberry i dont really like the 8520 it just seems cheap :P
Which is the fastest G2,LG Intouch or Touch 2 for internet, opening apps etc
