old film video camera

Just been browsing ebay and came across this:

Anyone know, as an old camera if it's ok? can you still get film for it? Anyone still use these?

I really just want to get it to play with but think i'd need to develop the film myself and then buy a projector too?

I think it's an 8mm camera, which you can still buy film for, Fuji and Kodak both make 8mm film.

I guess you could develop it yourself or send it to a film lab who'd probably charge about 5p/ft.

I think when purchasing 8mm film, the developing is usually pre-paid.

Yeah, 8mm film comes with processing paid (kodak). I've shot a bit of 8mm myself. I think the kodak lab in london has closed down/won't do 8mm anymore though. Last i checked closest kodak lab to develop it is in switzerland. I'll look up the address when I get home if you want.

I had (inherited) a super 8. I wanted to try it but nobody in UK seemed to sell / process exposed film.

Hmm looks like the kodak 8mm processing service has been discontinued... more info here. The address at the top of the page is the address I used, but that was in 2005.

Shame I didn't know that a couple of years ago - binned an exposed but non-processsed film (but it had been shot 10 years before!
