F.E.A.R. - £6.99 on Steam - Worth it?

No. dated graphics, horrible game

Graphics aren't everything. It's still a pretty good game, and holds it's own today. Great atmosphere, decent story. Might not appeal to todays ADD perk-obsessed MW2 crowd. Check the major review sites, it's pretty much critically acclaimed.

It's an ok game, the slow-mo effects are better done than some other games and the combat feels quick and challenging at times. It just suffers from being too repetitive, the whole game is just big gun fights followed by slow paced creepy sections that try to scare you. The atmosphere at the start is quite good but after a few levels you know when the scary parts are coming up so they don't have an effect on you.

It;s worth it though beware if you t have a logitech keyboard or mouse.

There;s an uncommon bug where you will see frames drop to single figures after a few minutes playing. If this happens, you need to disable certain HID compliant devices in hardware manager relating to logitech equipment - and that also disables any special features of the keyboard or mouse.

A real pain.

I think it's good. I got this game for free (actually -30p) off ebay with a bit of a strange story. I bid and won the game for £1.70. The seller sent me a message saying that his son had chewed the disc and so he couldn't send it and offered to try and buy one in town and post it or give me a refund. I said I'll just take a refund then. I thought maybe he just couldn't be bothered with the sale for that price and was maybe hoping for a tenner or something. A day or 2 later, the game turns up and then another day or 2 later a £2 coin turns up:confused: I can only guess he posted it but forgot and thought he had lost it.

Seeing as its 5 years old now id say over priced. I've seen F.E.A.R. 2 (although nowhere near as good) for £5.99

I got myself a collector's edition of Fear 2 the other week for a tenner and got the original with it. Still seems to be quite good for a blast.

Very much worth getting, graphics (for the whores that care) still holds its own even though the game is 5 years old. AI is still the best I've ever seen, firefights is fantastic and the atmosphere very very well done. It's a steal for £7.

It's a shame they haven't got Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate on there as well. Would have made a very good Steam bundle offer one day
